Went bushing today with herdwick, not alot of rabbits about but very good practice for my two. Back at the yard i hit a feral with the catapult although i think it had been pricked by the airgunners who'd been out earlier. Got a good pic of Parker posing too
  5. Me and a mate went ferreting yesterday morning but were all finished by 1pm. As it was such good weather we got the rifles and went to a different bit of land for a bit of squirrelling.
  6. Good luck, let us know how you get on
  7. looks like it could turn out to be a handy dog, i have a dog called ollie and is quite similar to yours atb jackk He is quite a character, he really needs a firm hand or he just takes the piss! Very different from bringing on the lurchers!
  8. Looks like a good day out, good looking dogs too
  9. Tracy36 - i will pass that on to him Pigeonphi - yep, those baskets work a treat, just wish i had done it earlier in the season Stealthy1 - no its not a hard hat, it was a bowl we found in a nearby shed which we were using to scoop the soil out from the depths! i didnt buy him a beer as he was rushing off but i will be tonight
  10. Thanks mate, i will pass that on. Do you think you could solve the eye relief problem with reach forward mounts? Do you use it alone or with an ir lamp? What is the effective range? Sorry for all the questions
  11. Went out with a mate, Parker and the new puppy Ollie for a couple hours this morning. i got Ollie at 7mths, about 4 weeks ago, he was a rescue and knew nothing . Spent the last few weeks getting him trained and broken to the ferrets and today he got to come and see what its all about. i kept him on the lead and he just watched but was very keen to join in, a little too keen at times! He did very well apart from that although he did try to be a bit possessive with a rabbit which got him punished by Parker and then told off by me! We had 6 in three hours in beautiful weather, had a pub l
  12. Thats what he was saying, they do sound good although i would have thought you would need reach forward mounts? Has anyone or here tried one?
  13. Just been chatting to my mate and he is talking about buying the above nv kit, its an add on that attaches to the rear of your normal scope. Has anyone tried it or a similar one? Thanks
  14. Thanks for the comments, just about to go out again. Hoping for a dig free day
  15. Fair enough, i know i wouldnt pay for it thats for sure but i've never been asked to either. i didnt realise people were charging for it
  16. i might be wrong but the guy is making an offer, why does he have to justify it? if you want a days ferreting and can meet the conditions then go, if not then dont. Why does it have to be an arguement?
  17. Worth more than that to me mate Collars arent cheap either but collar or no collar i wasnt going to leave her buried alive. Glad im not your ferret.
  18. A few pics from the last few days. Out with Jaegervulpes and another mate on seperate days. The hole was eight foot deep, the guy, JV, it in is about 6 foot and it went down diagonally from where he was standing. it was the worst dig so far this year, lots of rubble, bricks, even bits of steel! My polecat jill had got trapped by a collapse so no wonder she wouldnt come out, as you can see JV was not impressed!
  19. Where are you? The best thing to do is find someone experienced who will let you tag along.
  20. Made a second one today, even easier the second time. i had run out of the free steel so bought 4m from homebase for the princely sum of £4.98 Just painted it now, if it dries tonight i will attach the netting so i can use it tomorrow!
  21. i dont doubt the body parts, seen similar out of shoot crocodiles in mozambique. What i saw were bones and bracelets, bangles etc though so not so fleshy. i think the fly rod bit is bollocks though, they are incredibley strong.
  22. Well done mate, looks like the hard work paid off
  23. Apparently Portugal also. Netting, usually with dogs to drive in the game, is quite common throughout Africa although not usually for rabbits. The quarry there is mainly small antelope or sometimes wild pigs. its strange that its not more common globally as i would have thought it would have been wide spread in the past as its a fairly low tech, relatively low cost method
  24. is this it, looks a handy bit of kit http://cgi.ebay.com/GARMIN-ASTRO-GPS-ENABL...%3A1%7C294%3A50
