  1. Day 7 over and although not massive numbers it was still a cracking day, I had longshanx shooting today so decided to give him my gun so he could shoot every drive and I could keep the beaters in line, the weather was superb clear sky’s so you could see for miles, there was some good high birds shot today as they were getting up nice and early in the drives and up above the trees long before they reached the guns, stopping for a mid morning break we were treated to sausages and belly pork and to drink, 7 year old sloe gin that you could of ran your car on, after lunch we finished the day off w
  2. You can tell by the look in his eyes he knows this situation isn’t going to end well for him ?
  3. Lovely stuff, and now the madness starts ?
  4. I was wanting a dedicated fox rifle and didn’t want to take the scope off the .243 to put nv on it but the missus has put the mockers on that for the minute, so was thinking of putting nv on the .243 for now, for the foxes I’m putting sako 70g through it to good effect at the minute
  5. It flies by mate at least the memories last longer than the season and we have the end of season shoot dinner to look forward to
  6. Day 7 tomorrow and it’s got all the makings of another cracking day, the weather is saying -2 overnight and clear and bright for tomorrow, we still have birds about in a few of the drives in good numbers, it would appear that some have wandered in from the surrounding shoots as it’s very rare to see upwards of 40 birds out on the fields this time of year, we are that confident in the numbers that we have added another day, in all the time I’ve been in this shoot it’s the first time this has happened, we have cancelled days but never shot more then the 8
  7. I’m in Stockton about 30 mins from Newcastle cheers for all the advice lads, I’m going to have to do some serious reading up over the weekend, the more I think about it I really don’t want to get rid of the vortex scope, it’s the best scope I’ve ever had, I’ve had one of the photon rt’s on a .17hmr and it was sh*t, ideally I’d get another rifle and just have it for foxes then I wouldn’t be in this situation, I’m going to have to try and get in the good books
  8. You shouldn’t have a problem with that then, happy days ?
  9. Oh, my heads starting to hurt now, I’ve got a vortex viper LR on it now, no ad-on works on it because of the coating on the glass, I think I’m going to have to take all the advice I can and do some serious YouTubeing over the weekend, what put me off the pard was not been able to zoom 1x at a time, someone I know had the pulsar N450 ( I think that was the model) and he sent it back because it wouldn’t hold zero, I’m really not sure what to do, I’ve always done alright with the lamp but everyone else I know has been using nv for years now, I don’t want to buy something and think this isn’t as g
  10. Yeah I’m looking to swap her for night vision plus cash your way ?
  11. https://www.scottcountry.co.uk/night-vision/Night-Vision-Riflescopes/yukon-sightline-n470-digital-night-vision/ I know I change my mind more than my pants but the .22-250 is going to have to go on the back burner for the minute due to unforeseen circumstances ( the missus ) but I want nv to go on the .243, I was all up for getting the pard 008 lrf but the more I played with it the less I thought it was the right choice for the centre fire, now I have a mate who has a mate who runs nightmaster and he recommends this Yukon scope, now he said he can do me a very good price on it ( but ha
  12. I might take you up on that, there’s a lot of repairs to do this year, deer have ran through 2 of the pens and I’ve got know idea what’s wrecked the electric fences ?
  13. I go to the northern one every year and like Dave said the last day is the best to go, I’ve never seen anything so cheap I couldn’t walk away from it, ( it’s a northern thing ?) guns, scopes, nv, thermal are all about the same as shop prices, clothing, pigeon gear and the likes you can get some good deals
  14. I’m 3 chapters in and the old man is as hard as nails, proper old school poacher
  15. Keep an eye out for it mate, as soon as I’ve read it I’ll put it on here, I’ve only read two chapters but I’m enjoying it already
  16. Nice one Ben and Dave, hope you enjoy the book Dave it took me back to been a lad, out after what we could get to make a few quid and feed the family I’ve just started a new one today, so this will be up for raffle when I’ve finished it, might be a few weeks because I’m not the fastest of readers ?
  17. At the risk of sending you off on a massive scope rant ? I’ve always been a massive fan of high mag scopes ( but they must be very high quality) and what is bolted to the top of that .243 is more than capable of giving a very clear image at them distances, most foxes i shoot are between 100 and 200 but every now and then I will take them further than that
  18. I’ve done it myself more times than I care to recall and it’s always the easy ones, I’m sure he’ll come good again, he just won’t be getting the practice in on the sheep farm where it matters during lambing
  19. I think this customer will now be a bait and wait, if he wasn’t confident in the shot I wish he would of said and past me the rifle but he’s not the type of person to do that, he’ll take the shot and blame something or other for the miss, don’t get me wrong he knows what he’s doing and I’ve been with him when he’s dropped 300+ yard foxes, lately he seems to have gone right off the boil, he has always been better at shooting baited foxes, I think it’s because he knows where they are and there’s no pressure to get a shot off, I told him that I have to get up the sheep farm in the coming days ( b
  20. I said the same thing to my mate when we got there, I thought there’s no chance, it was like day light, I didn’t need the ir on the nv spotter, it was just a matter of hiding in the tree line and putting the caller a long way from us, when they have loving on their mind it takes a little bit to distract them ?
  21. I’d never get back up, have you seen a tortoise ? on its back
  22. Because he spends to much time rattling them about and if by the off chance the fox is still there he still bloody misses it ?
  23. This lads been shooting rifles for over 20 years, I don’t know why he always fluffs a shot at a fox, it’s as if he gets over excited, he said to me he was shaking, trying to get steady on the fox, that worries me a bit
