  1. Anyone got a few they no longer require. I could be in the market for between 10-20. Must be No4 not No6. Not bothered if they are genuine Fenn or copies but must be in serviceable condition! Cheers Deker
  2. You are of course absolutely correct - and the Red/Sika hybreds of course! Do you know I was out shooting Sat Night and the thought that I put buck down came to me as I was strolling through the woodland! Anyway ... next test.... Which breed/variety is Venison and which is Deer? Deker
  3. The Deer Act 1991 stipulates a minimum calibre and minimum muzzle energy (.240" and 1700 ft/lbs) for the lawful shooting of Deer in England and Wales. Scottish legislation is slightly different. For all practical purposes the minimum is usually accepted as being the .243 Winchester. As of 1 October 2007 all .22 centrefires can be used on Muntjac and CWD in England and Wales as long as they conform to a minimum of 1000ft lb, 50g and expanding. With regard the minimum .243 weight it is down to you as long as you keep within the law, 100g is most commonly used though and very effective!
  4. Is cloud cookoo land in Berkshire?
  5. Theres a fair few down Marshfeild, West kineton and littleton The question was BERKSHIRE! I know plenty of places I can find hare but I have not seen any in Berks and wondered if anyone else had! Deker
  6. I hear what you say, but first off I do not poach and second off I am sick of hearing ..."my mate saw one"..."I know someone who knows someone who has seen them" and in particular I am fed up with my game dealer telling me there are pleanty around and he wants some, when I keep insisting there are not! More than anything I am trying to find out if I am right; that there are none in Berkshire, (or only VERY, VERY few) so I obviously want 100% confirmed personal sightings! Deker
  7. Anything NORTH of Sheffield is near London, I hope you have sat nav or you could get lost finding the bathroom! Just for any foreigners living north of Watford, Berkshire is a county, its quite wide and thin and its just West of London......that's on the left....but I suppose it depends which way up you are holding your map book!! Oh yes....it looks like there are no Hares there either! Deker
  8. Hi A subject which has been discussed previously I'm sure but I could do with your pearls of wisdom please! Specifically, my new Tikka .223 Lite with stainless barrel (and very fine rifling), but generally all centrefires! Mr Tikka tells me NEVER scrub the barrel just swab it out; not been too much of a problem with breaking in the barrel and a few hunting trips and light use at Bisley. I have nevertheless, just spent what seems like an eternity cleaning it after about an 85 shot spree at Bisley. So question is.... What do/would you suggest as a bore solvent (remember I ca
  9. Ok help me out, most of my shooting is done in Berkshire with a hint of Oxon, Surrey, Hants and Wilts. My Game dealer keeps asking me for Hare; now I do a lot of shooting over a lot of Berkshire (not over all the county mind you, mainly the east) and I simply do not see Hare in Berkshire! Every time I talk to my game dealer he tells me X has a couple of Hare on his land up the road, or Y's land is full of them, but as yet nobody has produced any for him! Now, I fully expect there probably are some in the county, but can anyone tell me 100% where, not ....my mate saw one last week or
  10. I was thinking the very same!!! I'll meet with them as planned though and take it from there! Deker
  11. Help Please I have just had my local council call and they want me to help with their massive grey problem at one of their country parks. Problem, it's about 70 acres and about 60 of which is woodland. Now...I have always found shooting a good option especially spring and autumn when the canopy is poor, and trapping fairly unproductive. My problem here is this park is open to the public 24/7, dog walkers love it, the cats prowl at night, children play, assorted "hoodies" do their worst and courting couples do....well whatever they do! So traps will get nicked or destroyed, poison w
  12. I've had 217 so far (I have to keep records for landowners), 43 on one site earlier this year in 2days......anyway.......I have just had my local council call and they want me to help with their massive grey problem at one of their country parks. 13. Help me then...how do I get in touch?? Cheers Deker Hi Deker,.good to see you are still 'up and at 'em'... I cannot speak for The Big Fish,..but as a Mole Trapper I can at least put you in the picture as regards how things work. Firstly,..IF your client/landowner is prepared to pay for a trapper,..there shouldn't be a problem. To successfully trap moles,.as opposed to using gas tablets, Phostoxin,.Talunex,.etc,...the operator will have to make several visits to the various sites. This is not going to be cheap... Personally,...I trap from Monday right through until 'pick u
  14. Help me then...how do I get in touch?? Cheers Deker
  15. The Silhouette has a blue barrel, according to your picture and the fact it has a nickel barrel you have CZ Style! Whichever way you look it at the CZ is a superb bit of kit for the money! Deker
  16. If you do not have permission you can call it whatever you like, the fact is, it is poaching and/or armed trespass! I do not need you to help me out and I don't give a **** about incompetant people who have hundreds of acres and cannot put a dent in the rabbit population (other than the fact they give us all a bad name)!!!! Perhaps they should consider line dancing or needlework instead!!! And anyway, if they can't cope why don't you help them out instead of poaching?????? I have the resources and experience to more than make a dent on any piece of land! I know its a bold state
  17. Its nothing to do with "high horses", the world seems full of pathetic pimps who always want to blame someone else for their failures! Perhaps you can explain why gamekeekers are duty bound to give permission to anyone who simply asks on a website? Perhaps you can then explain what right that person has to go poaching simply because noboby gave him permission! Getting permission is not a right, it is a privilage! I have historically tried websites, shooting magazines and mail shots to get permissions, and found most to be virtually useless, I did't start crying afterwards and say o
  18. Its about time this one got put to bed........but I suspect this will re-ignite the fuse! I have 21 land permissions and they are all from the landowners and nothing to do with the gamekeepers! And I worked ******* hard to get all of them (and keep all of them), and got plenty of rejections on the way! This site is only one way of attempting to get permission, get used to the knockbacks, stop moaning and keep working at it if you are serious about shooting. Poaching does not, and never will help our cause. What devine right do you think you have to poach because you cannot get
  19. The Deer table needs updating as of 1st October 2007! Regards Deker
  20. Nobody!?!?!? There is work, Fun? and money to be had here, I don't believe it? Deker
  21. Looks a good one too but had some growing to do!!!! What really got me about mine was not only the condition but the size as well, soon as I picked him up I could tell he was heavy...take a look at the proportions again in relation to the gun. Cheers Deker
  22. Hi Everyone, glad to see you like him, got to admit I was pleased myself that's why I thought I would let you have a look. For those that have been asking the tool is a CZ 452 Silhoutte .22LR 20inch barrel, Hawke 3-12x44 Varmint2 with sunshade, Sak Moderator, Harris Bipod (9-13 with notched legs). Ammo on this occassion was Magtech 40g Sub HP. Deker .......Pro Mounts double screw, SuperSling2, and for hunting work I prefer the 5 shot magazine, its almost flush with the stock and unlike the 10 shot mag doesn't thump you in the back when you sling the gun over your shoulder, or get
  23. Great condition and size, pleased with this one, the plan came together, took him last night at about 20.45, the landowner was over the moon as it had been eating her chickens (probably why it is so big and in such good condition). For the technically minded, 73 yards, lamping, off a sturdy fence not the Harris, it was sitting there looking right at me in typical dog fashion, put it in the front chest, went straight down! There are more on the land of course, so plenty of work to do there yet! Deker
  24. Thanks for the interest shown...if you have been thinking about it you are a little late, the scope is on its way to its new owner! Deker
