  5. I would only breed from a dog to keep a line going I keep working dogs and mine have had two litters in 8 years always to keep a pup and money didn't come into it.
  6. The only way to know if a litter is capable of grafting is to see the parents graft, ill guarantee the majority of Bedlingtons advertised as working bred the owner will never let you see the parents in the field and the reason for the majority of that is they are fecking useless workers, the minority of the time the owner of a grafter can,t be arsed with a stranger in their midst.Id struggle to prove a worker by the look of the parents. you take him out and show him your beddys working then. Been there and done that, bred a litter and gifted pups to folk that seemed genuine, gave others pups t
  7. If the parents looked fit anufe to work then it wouldn't have been so bad, but they didn't they had never seen a days work.
  8. I have looked at several litters and walked away as parents looked like they had never worked. I want a pup from parents who work below ground as well as above the pup will b given the very best and entered the right way. I like a dog to b fit for purpose and able to fill several roles. Atb j
  9. Thanks for that offer mate, I know what you mean about folk who have all the kit but not the craft to catch, seen folk with half a dozen well bred whippets but they never get the chance to hunt and at the end of day the only way to learn is to get out and get on with it.
  10. No problem if ever you are down this way I will sort you a day on some very good ground.

  13. Thank you all for taking the time to read and reply to my post, I'm looking at joining a club and offering my permission to the right kind of person to fly hawk on if they will give me some hands on experience. I have wanted a hawk for some time now and since the stupid ban I no longer keep fen dogs so my time is spent ferreting with my whippets and I'm looking to use a Bedlington to work with hawk, I'm a terrier and lurcher man at heart and would have to work a terrier for flushing game. Again thanks for all comments atb j
  14. My grandfather was a horse dealer and my mother told me when one was shot the good flesh was eaten and rest was stock feed. And the lads from the tracks would collect Barrow loads if they got the chance same as sheep heads. I still boil heads for my team when i can get them [BANNED TEXT] the Africans. Atb j
  15. Im sure kelpie as bull in it the cattle dogs were lacking so x to dingo and the kelpie was made.
  16. I would b quite happy to pay, iv been ferreting and working lurchers for years and iv always been happy to take anyone out for a day in the field. It's all about keeping our field sport going and without new comers were will our chosen sport go. So iv always jumped at the chance to show new comers what a good day out we can have even though some days are a blank. It's all about getting out and being tuned in with what ever animal we have trained to hunt for us b that hawk dogs etc atb
  17. It didn't go deep anufe, what about all the terrier and lurchers they have stolen of hard working folk and the stupid court cases they bring to hunting men and women if I had my way I'd put them to sleep, I did like the pat whippet though. It's about time they got there own house sorted [BANNED TEXT] coming to ours

  19. Far as i no cattle men mixt sheepdogs such as Smithfiealds, heelers with bull terrier wich would b Stafford and then put dingo in the mix, Phil Lloyd wrote about this mix allso I believe Jeff brumel put bull blood from well none bull breeder to cattle dog to mix with his strain as at that time he could not get a kelpie from Australia, the bull collie is a well used x in Australia and New Zealand but old timers found them lacking so the dingo was put in the mix, I'm sure dave sleight or Phil would agree bull blood was in kelpies, as bull blood as been used in many breeds over time im not saying
  20. Rip another legend gone to the great hunting grounds we dream about.
