Totally agree with you Welsh all Black, as I keep Collie Grey's myself ...... But as a youngster's of 8 month I would also suggest "Little and often" in the training dept. Don't do too much in one go, don't want to sour or sicken pup's during training session's. And alway's try and finish on a high point ! ! Say if you are doing a bit on retrieving keep it to 2 or 3 max a couple of time's a week, and don't go down the road of thought that because they have carried the dummy in fautless 3 time's that I will give the pup another. You never know something could happen on that 4th retrieve that

Here's a bitch I had 20 odd year's ago, out of a Deerhound greyhound X Collie bitch by a Deerhound Greyhound X Collie Greyhound dog. Like this type of cross still to this day even tho I just keep Collie type's now. She was a nice type of bitch and was more than capable of spinning a few of the local Hare's Excuse the quality of the pic (pic of a pic) ...... Must get a scanner one of these day's

Nice pic's of the dog's Mike I know that the young bitch is maybe not done growing yet, and I know that your two dog's are bred the opposite way (Grey dog & Grey bitch) do you think that the way that they have come it make's that much difference ? ? Neal .... That sound's exactly what I found many year's ago with Beardie type's and one that I worked in particular was a line bred dog ( I only keep bitches now) The chap who bred him, kept amongst himself and a small group of friend's alot of the family line from only proven worker's ..... Obviously the sire and dam, but also grand parent's, uncle's and aunty's etc and swore by the type / cross and kept nothing else. The saying that I was told really hit the nail on the head ..... "They will work with you but not alway's for you"

Samba ..... A mate of mine had 2 Collie type's the same breeding as the two of your's in the pic. The Rufus bred bitch looked the same stamp as your's ..... Cracking lamping bitch aswell as other thing's The bitch he had from the Drum x Fly mateing was a steady bitch, but had foot injuries from a fairly early age and had only a short working career. The brindle bitch of your's, was that from the 1st or 2nd litter of that mateing ? ?

Have been reading this thread all the way thru, and have enjoyed the post's with the accompanying picture's .... Well done to all concerned Was just wondering, Most of the Pure bred Kelpie's that I have seen (Only on film, not in the flesh) working Sheep and especially cattle seem to be abit more vocal than other British type's when trying to keep reluctant livestock moving ..... Have people found that this is past onto lurcher stock when a pure bred Kelpie has been used ? ?
