  1. 72p a lb. in the skin last season not taken owt this year.
  2. loads of it this way. wouldnt touch it other than for pigeon shooting till october. I dont see the point in spending weeks getting a dog fit, for it to pick up a nasty injury.
  3. god luck chap. will be taking my 9 month old pup out for a few more easy ones.
  4. pubs or nobs and a few seasons beating. you may get a beaters day at the end of the season and you should def get some cash in your pocket, you will build up some friends and useful contacts. its a waiting game often chap. 4 years for my first permission so you def need to stick at it. edited to add the keeper bmay take you out lamping if you keep your head down are relaible and help out with things like pen repairs during the summer
  5. looking at her I cant imagine pups are more than five or six weeks. people can be such ***ts
  6. in a similar postion mate, whippet ran on some rough ground in mid to late nov and despite cleaning his feet up a toe got an infection round where he had knocked the nail. didnt look to serious at first so course of ab's, didnt work so nail off and some more ab's, two weeks later still lame, x-ray cant confirm fracture or secondary infection but toe all swollen. 6 weeks of ab's as precaution and layed off. fortunatley got him insured if not fixed at 6 weeks toe off. vet reckons wont effect him to much as its the inside toe on his back leg. the biggest problem im having is trying to ma
  7. Look at almost any track and any graded grey (pretty much) will be doing about 500 metres in sub 31 secs down to about 29secs. Over shorter distances times start to tumble.A saluki couldnt live with that pace in such a short distance now a 800yard race now thats the point where I think you'd get some photo finishes. If however you went the other way and say made it 140yards Im not sure a if a grey could beat a good non ped whippet! its horses for courses
  8. made me very angry, so a very carefully word note has been sent to Norfolk police. I have demanded a response which I will post once recieved. I also happened to point out that buy using pictures from lacs they are aligning themselves with a politically active organisation which is a very sticky ground to play on.
  9. have met jeff once, walked up & asked if my bitch was one of his dogs. says it all when you have bred so manyyou cant tell ywhat you have and havent bred. The bloke is a prat and then had a right go at a judge over confirmation of a dog with some bollocks about shoulder space not being flexible enough to be able to work
  10. have fostered dogs for a lurcher charity and have a rehome. charities do a great job on shit budgets and feck all support. my rescue is hopless for working tries hard but never going to be more than a odd one for the pot type beast, luck of the draw but for socalising young dogs has been a star. I have had ex-workings dogs as fosters who have got to four and been dumped after sold graft but not quiet upto 4 days a weeks work anymore. for one for the pot hunters people couldnt do to badly with a couple of the dogs I have had through but fen dogs for 3/3 and match work they aint, strangely t
  11. good stuff missie. hows griff coming along? look forward to seeing you all in october
  12. got to be gutted if that was the case. Did he do longer trips as well? looks like he had the legs for it
  13. your meant to ferret or poison the inhabitants first, in other parts of europe you can just blast them im told. mates doing a course to use one tomorrow. gutted but land owner wants clear of the rabbits. no running dogs allowed.
  14. waiting on KC to send me paperwork for me pup but it should have at least two gens on soot sams breeding on it as hes the great grandfather to my pup.
  15. what's she out of working or racing lines. Good looking lass my pup's upto 17inches at four half months so hoping he stays under the magic 21inch mark. whats her stamina like for a whole day as mine will be going beating as well as ferreting next season.
  16. mark you know the land you work and whats needed to do the job. Also like several folk have said you also know what you want to correct in your lass
  17. dont be saying stuff like that some kc do gooder will be off to the kc a get whole load of dogs banned from racing n stuff. have a laguna(coursing) x parkstone(racing) dog hes only four half months but bright as a button, fearless and shows great promise. hes already jumping two foot horse fences when larking around in aunts garden. have met one bull whippet first cross, he was apparently the raciest in the litter and despite being mustard on rats lacked pace for anything else on his own, was handy to have around with another dog tho
  18. gutted i have only just read this I would have got it moved to another rescue who would understand. some rescues mean good but are fecking clueless
  19. def wild boar in the uk articles in several magazines about it recently mainly let out of farms by antis and they now wander the countryside
  20. ran hares in norfolk & down south preban. dog was greyhound/beardie/deerhound x saluki/grey long retired at 8. he had plenty of stamina and can easily say fen hares gave him the complete run around. they are top class beasts that way no doubt at all
  21. well done eofe boys superb weekend. racing wise best organised show I have been to this year.
  22. simple way on not adding shite to the gene pool is to have it castrated or spayed. So it costs you £100 quid. Then theres the rescue option invariably well trained dogs i.e does the basics well sit, stay and come are rehomed in no time. Very little stigma attached to rehomed working lurchers but plenty of ammo for antis in killing healthy dogs (in my opinion)
  23. Yep will be their. Probably run one or two of the dogs in the lure coursing . Here a couple of good dogs are coming over from Ireland for the racing.
  24. Have two mike kidd dogs with lines back to mike docwra. The bitch comes beating, ferreting and has odd trip out on lamp. Never had chance to run her on hare pre ban but reckon she probably lacks the stamina to run 3 in a day, however she has the attitude and would give it 100%. Aint got a pic of her working but have of her racing def the best dog I have had and will be having another in future.
