  1. Stunning collection of pics. If I had to choose (and obvs I don't) I'd pick 1,2,3 and 7 of the carps. Thanks for sharing.
  2. That is strange indeed. (Lovely looking dog). We used to have those groynes here, but now they just shift the shingle around every few years.
  3. I'd say £100 and part of a pig for a year, would be a good starting point and fair to both sides. Based purely on what I'd think if I was either party and a reasonable person. Consider your own costs...fencing off the couple acres you want to use. Then there's access / security issues for both you/ your pig(s) and the Landowner. Pesky Wabbits did a thread a page or so ago (slaughtering pigs price), which has some info from various people about cost of rearing pigs. It's a great idea...hope it works out for you.
  4. It truly is the end of days... I am actually outraged by something that the thl general section is also outraged about.
  5. Just a pet owner but, from what I gather, frontline is pretty redundant now. Suggest get something from vets if it's persistent.
  6. Great food porn as always. Spect you've already got a plan but, just in case, and if you're in Lisbon, have a look at cervijara Ramiro (it was pretty good coupla years ago..) Wh'evs... happy hols.
  7. Haha no. Much further round the bay. Anyway, from what I hear, it's all just back to normal now.Was lovely to see though, and a first for me.
  8. Used to know it as Dengemarsh Beach, 4 of us camped on the beach for 3 nights in October 1977. Fcuking cold was an understatement, couldn't get warm at all so no real kip, ended up shattered but I did get an 8lb cod biggest fish of the session. I know it well fished there all the time growing up down there, used to shoot rabbits down the unused road track leading down there to the beach, fecking desolate along there winter time with that wind coming off the sea lol, also fished the big lakes near the power station for pike had some nice doubles out them, parents still live not far from thereWell
  9. Yep Camber side. Never seen them so close in and lived here 28 years. Old boy I know says he remembers once seeing whitebait, followed by mackerel, followed by dolphins.
  10. If you use jars with lids, and sterilise them in the oven, and put hot (not booing obvs) jam in, lids on, as cooling jam contracts in vol, should make airlock. You can hear the little press button thingys click down.
  11. 'Worried about pretty much everything outside our house' describes my pup when I got him (at 6 months). Couple of things that worked for us. Sitting in the boot of the car with him at the harbour or Wickes car park, sharing bacon roll or bag of chips. Just hanging out together. Watch the people go by, hear the traffic, wind swooshing in the trees, whatever, with you close and available for eye contact or a stroke, and something delicious to distract him from being scared and anxious, and you from being bored and frustrated by him being such a wuss. Going for a walk was a nightmare. He
  12. Never mind a rod, I reckon it would have been hard to miss one or two with a toasting fork. (And the previous day, whitebait had been just throwing themselves onto the sandy beach).Ended up being given 20 odd, on a day I had no fridge or freezer space, and offered more the next day.
  13. Shoal of mackerel along the shore the other morning. None of my pics did it justice, even with a bit of tweaking, but it was a delight to see. Shoulda gone in closer but didn't want to risk dropping my phone in.
  14. Sounds a bit steep. Mine sells bags approx 2lb-kilo for £1.50. I know coupla people get it in bulk from them get it cheaper. Advantage to me is that it's varied meats/bone including organ meat, so good part of a balanced diet.
