  1. I don't visit here often but the timing was just right. Some of my neighbors are having a friendly clay shoot outside. Actually it's quite nice to hear but it started just as I got the pressure cooker out to cook some pheasant. I chuckled to my self, ok, in a snobbish way, how they can't eat their clay birds and here I was cooking my real birds! Joking aside, I am actually very blessed so should not gloat at all! Besides, it might be a charity shoot of which at any moment anyone could be a benefactor including me!! With hindsight I probably should be saluting them and
  2. The last ones I saw available were on Henry kranks website.
  3. Yes think the American eagle is still made. I remember being quite impressed when they first turned up in the nineties.
  4. If you think that's bad Jarvis I once drove miles and pulled the rifle out only to realise I had left the bolt at home! You did ok. I had two jimneys over ten years. I love them. U.
  5. Anyone remember American eagle. Think made by federal. They were ok too in several rifles.
  6. I remember the xpeditors but never tried them. The only rifle I had joy with stingers was a Remington 597. Yellow jackets were decent in a Krico I had but I think it was a fluke brick I bought in the nineties, others after were bad. In fact most Remington 22 ammo is mediocre. I was given hundreds of old Canadian ammo with date stamp of 46, thats 1946. They shot very well, standard velocity, very consistent and no failures. I noticed my local dealer had some old white box Winchester subs. I bet they are better than the newer stuff!
  7. Possibly they are using existing equipment based around the WMR case. Thought they could short cut the neck sizing. Sure they could prime after with some engineering but it would cost to much as far as the board of directors was concerned!
  8. The cases are primed via a special method being a rimfire and has to be done first, before sizing. No heat can be applied after so the cases are cold formed and quickly too...that's when the issues can occur.
  9. They wouldn't chamber if they were larger.
  10. I remember the nickeled cases. We shot hundreds of rabbits with them. A mate had a Russian vostoc rifle and the lasers loosened the action and increased head space. We had to tig some weld to the bolt handle to snug the action up again!
  11. Found some today locally. Got 100 to try and I will be returning to get more! Adequately accurate. I had to lower zero from the rws HV settings another 2"@100. Coincidentally the rws were lousy consistency wise! Half not breaking sound today out of 25rds. I also hope the lasers expand better than the rws! Jess was clean today and I was hoping to not bath her again but then the squirrel happened! Well, it was the second squirrel of the day. I shot it at about thirty yards. It drops to the ground by its hollowed ash and crawls inside, Jess just missing it (like normal). Jess
  12. Thing is, I could sit still long enough without going and taking a wing or two back for myself ?
  13. It's ok. I remember when I was mad keen. Keen to shoot at extended distances. Pulled some good ones off but in all honesty most were missed shots. The powder and bullet makers were well happy, it just got frustrating. It's not gravity that is the issue, that's a constant so reliable. It's the atmosphere, like some forums, often tempestuous and unpredictable! Fortunately there are some calmer places one can visit! And 400 yd rabbits are at a worse peril than ever before from me! Now I have to get closer which is far worse than the kid with all the latest gizmo
  14. Jess has been thinking and listening a bit more of late yes. Alot better. I always like a fettle and the Chinese stuff is ripe for fettling. I find it more enjoyable, it makes itore mine, it has my input in it. The bird went to the lads at work, they are all game meat mad at the moment! U.
  15. I like.....err, my friend likes your reasoning Howsoon but no. I been, well....my friend has been catching mice lately and they are getting bigger for certain (or was I wearing my reading glasses!), maybe the WMR will cope better should we get a band of marauding super mice! U.
  16. Thanks feller's. I've told him there are better things to be thinking about! U.
  17. 15 center fires have passed through my hands and I reloaded for them all. I ain't doing that again just yet, maybe never. If I was to go with anything hornet in its name it would be 22 hornet. I use to wind it up to its limits. Load it down to WMR levels and sometimes run it on shotgun powders! Been there, got the t-shirt bud.
  18. ? now that's the best advice I have heard all day ?
  19. No sir, my friend don't want minced rabbits but I, err, he shoots them in the head any hoo. I think he is going off the idea already! U?
  20. So you reckon my friend should keep his 22?
  21. 17hmr. If someone I know swapped his LR for one how far on calm day could he shoot at crows and magpies? How far on a windy day? Do the barrels get fouled easily? Would I ......he need a mod? What's the heaviest bullet they do? I'll pass on what you say ?
  22. Had a day off today and used both my springers. A Chinese underlever thingy, all £69 worth of it mildly tuned and a trigger job and my little 99s. Made a cracking shot on a 45yarder crow. Plum in the back of the head! The 99s loves these jsb 16grn pellets. The pellet was in the crows brain so I dug it out! Look how little rifling marks there is but they really want to stack themselves on top of each other! The Chinese thingy although low power is amazingly accurate with a good selection of pellets. I used up my last 17 Superdomes plinking and then went hunt
