    Just bottled up the last of the sloe gin, little tip for anyone else doing it keep the berry’s then put them in a gallon of scrumpy the spirit and berry’s make for a very nice but rather punchy beverage

    My boy very seldom misses a full moon even takes time off work when it’s around and he’s had some whackers in his time though on the other hand we have an easterly wind at the moment and wind in the east fish feed least so two conflicting powers of nature at work lol

    Would have loved to have fished on there back in the days when the power stations were up and running was amazing reading the story’s back in the day

    FairPlay I,m quite keen on catching one of these which is another thing people are trying and failing to keep a bit quiet done a few mid twenty’s and I’ve even heard of the odd catfish making an appearance though nothing concrete if your ever down this way and like a bit of predator fishing the canal here is a bit special as I said pike to mid 30s Zs to mid 20s and 3/4lb perch most years and a couple motor home sites on the bank even get some nice carp here

    It’s the same 80% sheep in every walk of life just follow on blindly there’s a big tower crane in the boatyard on the canal near me and many moons ago a bloke caught a 36lb pike and put a picture in the anglers mail with the crane in the background the spot has done nothing big for years but there are still loads there every morning people sleeping in vans etc it’s probably the most pressured bit of water on the 16 mile stretch and as a consequence the least productive

    Nice bright morning been for a long walk to put some cameras in a disused underpass on the m5 managed to get one at each end and one on a run alongside the motorway, just hope they don’t get triggered by the traffic

    Suspended sentence for running a hare is no different or less than having the shit kicked out of you and your motor and dogs took off you for running hares on Salisbury plane when we got caught in the 80s by MPs you just get better at not getting caught like I say we never had nothing to loose from the start so things don’t change like I say those that try and work within the law are the ones with lots to loose

    We’ve become better at moaning than the rest of the world it seems people comparing us to China and Korea ffs, I still get up and walk my dogs every day catty in pocket I shoot the odd squirrel pigeon or pheasant and the old dog generally gets a run on something or another I still get shouted at and told to get off peoples land but as a solitary person it’s easy for me to disappear through a hedge and vanish been doing it all my life and nothing’s changed, have spent many afternoon sat in a country pub watching plod racing up and down the road looking for me, it’s all part of the game we play

    Nice crisp walk around the basin and along the frome this morning the lay-by dwellers have gone up in accommodation lol

    Thick frost but no ice on the cut, take it that’s the Tiverton your on there mate shallow with very little boat movement take a few days of this before we get any ice minus 4 when I got up

    Not me but my neighbours have just left in there van heading up country to visit relatives before heading to Scandinavia then over the next 5 months following the sun back to the uk through Europe daughters in west wales with her bloke in there van as well seems very popular at this time of year anyone else been out

    Got a bit of beef skirt left over from the summer so have beaten it senseless with a rolling pin and marinading in various rubs over night then laid out over a bed of spring onion,ginger,garlic and peppers for an all day slow roast on the wood burner

    Feck all personally but two days in the company of loved ones kids grand kids and partners a couple of arguments a few drunken tumbles and only one ambulance called lol merry Christmas
