Cheers for the photos H, I remember that 89 Llangollen show like it was yesterday one of the first proper dog shows I went too, and one of the best.
  2. I'm sure I've seen a pic of that dog before Glyn, was it taken a while ago?
  3. Nice one RH just the one sheep shagging joke, it is quiet on here...
  4. Now the season is over (for me anyway) a few strange things occured during the season as it usually does for terrier or lurcher men. I was wondering if anything out of the ordinary happened to others too this season. Heres one, walking two terriers up the forestry one young and old, I usually let my 5 month old pup run free, this time she was gone for longer than usual I then spotted a ram staring at me in the wood it then trotted off then I noticed my pup hanging off its tail (theres never any sheep in the forest usually) it jumped the ditch onto the track the pup broke free as I was running
  5. Theres one thing we dogmen need a lot of and thats patience...
  6. Good little quiz Neil, it makes a change from all the bitching, now the seasons nearly over we could do with a couple of hard ones to keep us ticking over (not that I got them all) through the summer months, Quizmaster it is then!!!
  7. I enjoy digging Zilver, but I love digging to dogs I have bred myself. You have to take some credit for the dog, some say its just a case of putting them in a hole and digging them out, to breed and own a high percentage of workers I personally think its more than just that. I had a son of Nuttalls miner in the early 90,s and he worked well for me.
  8. Nice solid looking dog Zilver, did you breed him yourself...
  9. It looks like you guys had a good days digging in good country with great weather.
  10. I think it was Todd in the lakes, maybe....
  11. When you have spanned a fox you will know its pointless spanning any terrier.
  12. Pabs I had a similar incident a long time ago, I was checking an earth in under a hedge at the side of a field, I didnt see the horses at first, when they came up to me the dog came out at the same time, the dog ran after one of the horses, it bolted with the dog in chase and gave a kick out at the dog and caught the dog clean in the head, down he went I thought he was dead I ran over to him and picked him up in my arms limp as a rag, he came around halfway across the field so put him on the lead when the horses came over again he was screaming to get at them again. Thats terriers for you!!!
  13. Ss seems like a decent genuine dogman Delboy, he saved you a few quid then.
  14. Just read the thread, sad news FD.
  15. Your spot on RH some people are kennel blind and some will never understand what it takes to get the best from what they have, breeding from the right stuff is only half the battle, you need a regular system from when there born to when they are entered, then if a certain dog doesnt work you cant blame yourself, this goes for all working, sporting breeds of animals. I have my methods, and I stick to them.
  16. Bred from young dogs myself in the past when circumstances forced it, I took a chance because I had seen the parents of my young dogs work and was impressed, so went for it and pups turned into good workers. Its the chance you take!!
  17. Well said Ss, maybe the best post I have read since I joined this site.
  18. When the noise in the distance wasnt a tractor it was helicopter and then watching it land in the field your digging, then thinking shit this must be a dodgy place!!!
