  1. I have never seen one, I have had this for about 3years now, WM
  2. thanks Toby, I will check that out,I could never understand why you would make a sporting air rifle without a synthetic stock option, WM
  3. Morning men,you lads on this section have been a great help in the past to me and so my question is can I get a synthetic stock for my full length/size HW100,I have asked at a few shows and stuff but it seems it would cost the price of another gun to get one made,as a pest controller my gun is heavily used and simply never misses,it is by a country mile the best rifle I have ever shot but I hate the thought of scratching the lovely finish on the stock,it would be a shame to get it dipped and I find myself using camo wrap to protect it, the only other option may be to buy a second hand wooden o
  4. That's a great little pup you got yourself,good luck,WM
  5. Well done plucky that's good going 3 foxes over 20lb aswell must be eating well I allways try to guess the wieght of them can surprise you when there on the scales Always carry scales, old habits die hard, comes from when I kept diaries on everything we caught, WM
  6. My mate used to do a bit of bone setting, manipulation, etc and the worst worn out joints he ever seen was on some young bull/crosses that were only ever lamped out the motor, he reckoned running them cold, jumping out then jumping over the hedge to get on terms destroyed their joints, when walking the fields the dogs joints are being warmed up and lubricated ready for work,so you may find your working dogs life is shortened by running out the motor, WM
  7. Yes mate, there's been a decent population of rabbits on there since spring and a month or so back myxie hit it big time so there is plenty of easy food about, I have had some mangy old vixens though with hardly any brush just to keep it real,"Wilf's" not waiting to be invited in like my bitches do,he just follows straight in so you have to be quick on the job with either gun or nets, WM
  8. I run a pest control business with my mate but we are both lucky enough to not need an income from it to pay the bills,we do a lot of rabbit control but find the milage can be a difficult factor when pricing a job, I find people are more willing to pay for pigeon and fox control,we charge per visit or per fox depending on the initial survey, which we charge for, rats can also be a decent little earner as well but as socks says you do need decent equipment and plenty of it to run multiple jobs together,we also work very unsocial hours of a night using night vision and the best rifles, guns, etc tha
  9. I have had a decent start to my season this year with more fox in a month than I had in most of the last, I bushed a large dog fox into a 40ft drain yesterday, used my dog Wilf to force a bolt and finish,he looked tiny by comparison to the fox, that's 3 over 20lb in a few days, that makes 7 this month,Wilf is only 2yrs old and I have really ramped up his work to ground but the weather is still so mild and most are being forced from cover into earths or drains, let's hope for some bad weather to get them down, WM
  10. Good post Rob,mine get worked all year round so are handled regularly but any biters are knocked on the head right away, when ferrets are being thrown to each other over hedges, etc, the last thing you need is a biter, my mate always swore a bit of engine oil on their nose stopped it and it did work on a big hob he was given but I am not sure, I handle mine every time I clean or feed them,I find the more polecat in them the more the chance of a biter, WM
  11. have you used it for a while ?? Or is it new, I sold all my mk3,s as I just could not get the knack of them, still using my mk 1,s,good luck, WM
  12. Hjckcff, they don't have to be big to catch, my brother had an excellent 3\4 whippet/ beddy that was a single handed fox dog and shown no fear with anything, good all rounder in fact, good luck with your pup she looks a cracking sort, WM
  13. I think the real old drovers type dog is now consigned to the past, as Game roosters excellent post says dogs were bred for the work at that time, there are not people spending days herding stock to market, modern times means everything moves on, even the herding types have to adapt to the job being asked of them, if you go to any Smithfield market or livestock auction these days as I do you will see all manner of beasts being herded in and out by mongrels and curs of all types, I move a lot of farm stock around the many farms I hunt on in any given week and most have a collie of some descripti

    Childhood Hunts

The countryside now is like hunting in a big goldfishbowl mate, people everywhere, nosey ramblers and pensioners everywhere, mobile phones on every one of them, I ran a big rabbit last week with my young bitch and she caught it right in the middle of a field with a path nearby, I walked over to pick it up before the terriers could break it up only to see about 20 ramblers watching, taking pics on their phones, I promptly f*cked off and was barely gone in my van when a police car came screaming round the corner with its blues and two's going, luckily he never looked at me and I was away, but tha
  15. Looks like you've got a big following now Chris, I'm off out now and may look in later as I have some pigeons to kill, WM
  16. So you would be happy not to reply to threats from him and just leave it, I don't think so, if you have a family you would do the same, WM
  17. Chris, I see nothing wrong in that pm and if you had any property or family you would understand the need to put procedure in place, this was advised by my brother, who you know is a magistrate, I would of preferred the old ways but I value my liberty too much these days to get involved in all that macho shit, all I ask is that the obsession stops, as for CSD88, that certainly was never one of my accounts, I've only ever posted as 3 accounts and any mod will tell you that, and that was only because they shut my account, WM
  18. Peter, its my mate he was accusing of being a grass not me, WM
  19. Well here we go again with the same old shit, the only reason I ever took this kid out was as a favour to his dad and a mutual friend, his dad worried he was on the wrong path, worst thing I ever did and should of listened to my brother, etc,we all live and learn even old feckers like me, Chris you are just looking for trouble or somebody to blame for your unfortunate circumstances ,to the other lads you can believe what you like but I hate grasses and have certainly never grassed on anyone regardless of the shite being said on here. AT,I don't see how you can twist my words into a threat
  20. LOL's, I suppose it reads that way, they were only taped during the extraction to avoid exactly what happened, then they were bagged, the lad we sold them to was letting them go in a hunt area over lincoln way where he had all the top class coursing, they were all kept in sheds and well fed till he picked them up or we dropped them off, there was no cruelty involved as they were simply relocated, everybody happy, they already had that deal when I met them years before and when it ended we despatched as usual, WM
  21. Mik, well done for not giving up, I have watched your vids etc with great interest and have only just seen this after getting in from a long day, good luck with the dog and hope the news is all good, I'm sure some good grub and a bit of time being spoilt in the house will help, WM
