Just to add my uncle is a mason he showed me he's apron and gave me a book to read , like I said a lot of ancient ceromony and symbolism almost all of it was lost on me at the time. I don't think it's for me as my father taught me to be a cautious man .

funny old thing from what I can make out a lot of ancient ceremony which so my father says " you're gradually selling your soul to the Bang ( devil ) lol . But on the other hand I've met a few and been ask to go to lodge meeting and they didn't seem like normal men .

Well went went out together today and had a look at he's permo , 500 acres of rolling hills and steep banks and all chalk and Flint lol. Got to say I enjoyed the day as we managed a 1.1 to my youngster in a sensible place , he stayed until I lifted him so I'm happy for he's first go . The old bloke made me laugh a couple of times as well, not intensional just him being him . He keep up with the walking and was in the digging and was as happy you like at the end with the result . I asked him if he can remember he's first terrier he said " yeah a white terrier in 1949 " he was a a boy then . He's dug and hunted fished and shot everything that you could back then . He said he's seen many generation of lads go from boys to men, some carried on some got to old and most are dead . Through the long summer I've bumped into a man that used to know my father from years ago . As soon as you meet him you know he's a character he must be in he's mid seventies and although he's looking a bit older he still looks strong and upright for a man of he's age , he still digs and lamps and mooches . So after a good chat about our dogs and times gone by I says to him we will have to have a few digs together this season, when he came out with this pearler . This sort of thing gets taken to court straight away and the lad gets a £7000 for booting a mixy rabbit, poor old Baby P was kicked punched and burned the police and social services had a good idea what was going on but done fook all until he couldn't take any more and left this world . They need to be as sharp will little children getting abused as they're with a mixy rabbit !!

yeah like I said different days different men , if I remember correctly I can honestly say I can't mind any of the dogs they bought in was smashed or over hurt . Most of the men around my way liked a sounder bayer call them what you like as it was pre locator days and a overly hard dog was useless( that's why the billy dog I mentioned was sold 3 times before he found he's home) . The coursing dogs they bought in where watered after a couple of runs so I can't see as that's hurting them in any way either . it was a different time I suppose and yer you always did get a bit of a tall tail from some but that was part of the craic .. Still I'd rather do it the old timers way of sitting in a pub with trusted friends chatting than be like the wankers of this day and age by putting pics up of busted terriers on Facebook ?
