You should be able to find them Hedgehogs and Winter Chanterelles about now in the woods especially Fur woods on the side of the Moor mate. Oysters for got them mate. As for Beef Steak don't much like them, look nice mind. The Giant Polypore/Blackening Polypore I have never tried it. Just trying to think of the easy ones for Guy to learn. Cheers Arry

I can't find them down here Tomo Micky puts pictures of them up he calls them Blue legs and I have heard that before, buggered if I can find them. The Wood Blewits I find mind. Cheers Arry

I must have had about half a dozen books and I could identify quite a few before I tried any thing other than field mushrooms. It takes a while to build your confidence up. Learn some of them I put up mate. Cheers Arry

Yea they do mate quite Mushroomy but you might get fed up with it as if you find one or two (often grow in groups) you have a lot of mushroom. I cut in slices it's a bit like cutting polystyrene and fry it like a steak egg on top. GL's the one foe cooking it up. Cheers Arry

You can't learn all of them. I just stick to about a dozen easy ones mate. Giant Puffball Safe nothing you can muddle that up with. Hedgehog Mushroom Safe has spikes instead of gills Hen of the Wood Safe the only thing you might muddle that with is the Giant Polypore/ Blackening Polypore and the edible too. Chicken of the Woods Safe sulphur yellow growing on an Oak or Cherry Tree normally. Horse Mushroom Could get muddled with the Yellow Stainer (Poisonous) if you scratch the side of the cap and it goes bright yellow or the base of the st

If you see one pick it as long as it cuts white all the way through and are not in a field thats been sprayed off. The safest fungi in the UK as there is nothing you can muddle it with, safer than a Field Mushroom. I cut them in 10mm to 15mm slices and Fry. But watched Hugh hollow one out and cook pigeon etc inside it. Cheers Arry

Parasols mate one of my favourites sort of a nutty taste. But as SHH said beware of the smaller Shaggy Parasol. I don't bother with Wax Caps usually Kev but think I might try a Scarlet one if I see one again. Wood Blewits about at the moment. Cheers Arry

Sorry mate but Parasol is very good I love them but they deteriorate quickly. Classed as excellent by Roger Phillips. The Scarlet Wax Cap/ Scarlet Hood is also edible classed as good. Although I have not eaten one myself. The Meadow Wax Cap is classed as good. I have not eaten this one as well. Warning is could be muddled with other Wax Caps. Cheers Arry

I have an App for an iPhone called Seek by INaturalist is good but would not trust it with my life. It does animals, insects, fungi, trees. Please Guys I'm no expert Fungi is just a hobby of mine. Be 100% before you eat any fungi. A family that lived near me where holidaying in Scotland and poisoned them selfs and the parents lost their Kidneys. Cheers Arry
