Ohh right sorry, I better shut up me being clueless and all.... you obviously like a lot of other dog owners, know everything been there done that and have the bestest of best dogs.... mmmmmmmm .. Things seem to be getting twisted, I like saluki crosses, daft or clever... they put stuff in the bag, run all night.....say no more. Well thats me over and out from this topic, its boring me now....enjoy your dogs whatever they may be...

What dogs do I run none, there all dead...all whilst lamping one way or another.. No I'm not saying all sight hounds have no brain at all.....The arguement was that lamping dogs need to be "brainy" as it was put, in fact more "brainy" than a dog used for working during daylight hours, with nets, obeying commands and working cover, etc.. Which is as I state bollocks.. No you don't need a brain to shoot something with a gun....I do it all the time...I'm braindead :db:

so your saying if the dog dosent sit give you a paw and work with ferrets its thick ??your saying a lamp dog dosent need a brain answer my question a coursing dog dosent brain A coursing dogs ability is its running style, speed and stamina..if the dogs got these and gets experience then it will make the grade, it doesn't require a high IQ or that similar to a collie cross to do these does it? So to answer your question, lamping with dogs does not require a super intelligent dog NO!

Pure bollocks ... mainly in regard to markbricks comments, he mentions he thinks lamping takes more brains than daytime work ie working nets, ferreting, daytime hunting and commands ... I completely disagree..I also remember his remarks about saluki x's in other posts mocking them..

Errr does that require a super intelligent dog then, to come straight back to recall and jump, etc??? These are basic commands and nothing to do with lamping itself, a dog should do these anyway... Mark I'd say lamping is the most dangerous sport in running dogs, without a doubt...but you don't need an einstein of the dog world...seriously though tell me what the brains are needed for?

Lamping dogs don't need to be brain surgeons, apart from running down the beam or side, which is learnt through experience... what other things do they need... I'm interested now..basic commands like jumping, retrieving, etc have nothing to do with lamping and are as stated basic...
