Co-incidentally, Nana Akua is on GBNews right now talking about her heritage, she is, as Boisy would say , as black as Newgates knocker and her family is from Ghana, but she was born in Newcastle and insists she is a Geordie and English. My brother has my dads missing in action letter that was sent to my Nan….its pretty sobering to read: Something like: ”Your son is listed as missing in action….” Cant fathom opening that letter and reading it as a mum can you….

Going through his papers etc I've found my granddad's enlistment papers he signed. He wasn't called up, he signed up. I've even got the certificate papers that say he was "sten gun trained". Like I said, this is a bit of a question/history thread for all of us to add to.
