I think it's because they are ignored and get a chance to relax without getting annoyed by being poked about. I remember my old head keeper who wasn't keen on cats stalking round his cottage with a gun in pursuit of a stray cat . His wife and daughter were on the other side of the house with a tin of food. They got there first and the cat stayed Some time later we were sitting round the table with an elderly old- school keeper who had dropped by for a cup of tea . He couldn't understand why everyone was struggling not to giggle . The cat had crept onto his lap and he was absent mindedly stroking it!

This youngster did just that she started of defensive with the dogs which I understand but then grew in confidence and came to me I am certainly not a cat person but this little critter grew on me especially with her ballsy attitude I like her

He comes in the Back window and just causes carnage , vases knocked over , big fight with the older female cat if it s there. Funny old thing he is

It just appeared ,wasn't any bother, never paid it much attention or gave it a proper name . Everyone just called it The Black Cat . Then when it went AWOL l missed it ,even dogs seemed to miss it . Eventually it reappeared. Shortly after which the little tart presented us with kittens!
