I have been to two weddings in the last couple of months,one in the states one here in Canada.First one was my ladies niece,she met her husband in the states,she is a nurse he was a patient,the other wedding was a family friend who met his wife online.Both weddings were live-streamed to family members around the world (its a thing nowadays,I went to a family members virtual funeral during covid).

Before the advent of the bicycle most brits met their partners very locally,I think the statistic was within 2 miles?My son met his lady at Uni.How did you meet your wife/partner?

In the pub a mile from both our respective houses….i think the journey of how those circumstances happen is more interesting, how does a bloke from South London and a Girl from Northern Ireland end up in small town Essex ?

Thats a way more interesting story, funny old universe tumbling people about like a bingo barrel.

My missus and I went the same schools and lived about 1/2 mile from each other. 
We met again at a party years later and tomorrow is our 49th wedding anniversary.

My daughter married an Australian, in Australia and my son married a Saudi, in Saudi Arabia. Times change.

As for live streaming, my nieces funeral was live streamed from New Zealand, so, if we couldn’t be there, at least we felt part of it.

I am from Sunderland,she was born in Canada,we ended up in Surrey UK

Mines a lovely tale for the ages of an instant mutual attraction and sliding doors moments.

Went to to watch my mate in his Muay Thai come back, went to the after party in a Lap dance venue ( much much more low rent than the previous two statements aspire to be )

was walking upstairs in walkabout, passed an absolute sort of size 10 Brunette who was the mix of Cher, kim kardashian and 90s backing dancer I’d been saving myself for .

saw that she was on a double date with her cousin and two non starters naturally did the gentlemanly thing by gatecrashing it and refusing to leave until she had given me her number. 

took her out Wednesday , moved in at weekend and never looked back . 

nothing else seemed as important anymore.
