Nowt wrong with cheap dog biscuits.  Know a fella that fed his lurchers on cheap snap. . Hot water over biscuits on a night ready for morning. Veg mixed In then a Tin of corner beef. That was back in 90s. Dogs looked mint. Always covered well. Think some dogs hold weight on better than others. Some can be a  nightmare.
