My brother had a platts bred dog that didn't catch anything until it was over 2 and he'd run stuff but wouldn't strike ,he had his first catch on Harrington aerodrome,a munty was feeding out in the open and he got up to it and we thought here we go again he's going to just think it's a game silly cnut but fcuk he lifted it by it's back leg and started to retrieve it screaming like fcuk and we herd him yelp and he dropped it and it was running again but he lifted in couple of yards and finished it, after that first catch he came into his own and put plenty away but was never a rabbit dog .

He's 11 now and lives at my mother's getting spoilt,

i know a very good working whippet , also been thinking about first cross deer whippet, heard a decent bit about them back in the day , but not sure how the pups would throw

Anyone know much about first cross whippet x deer that can shed some light? it’s a thought as not a lot about that i know of

A guy had one by me good few years ago wasn't much use tbf  about 23 24 tts but it was a light boned frail hairy lookin thing I hunk I've a picture of it somewhere

Slightly off topic, but the Americans have a breed, the “Silken Windhound”

Basically a borzoi / whippet , line bred to get a whippet sized borzoi.

Bonny looking things, but more for show than work.

A greyhound/whippet be a better animal to put over her, But just thought i’d ask cause i know of 2 pretty well proven whippets one’s got some collie in it about 23 tts

You can see the whippet In it can't you and I don't like dogs like that in the back.leg no.speed I'd go.starighter back leg all.day long if you want top.end speed

I have always thought the opposite, I think dogs with nearly straight back legs to slow, ones with good angulation usually very fast, look at the shape of a hares back legs there kept almost folded in half when there loping around and look at the speed of them for there size

I'd say the opposite mate never seen one long in the back leg have the final gear needed

Phil Lloyd wrote about his Deerhound x whippet ,I believe he used a dog called blue Peter and from what he wrote the pups turned out crackers

I’ve seen a few like that mate but once they click it’s game on.I love the breed but I think that’s because that’s what it was in the 80s.

These are what I had and bred years ago from a 1stx back to a whippet just to bring the size down.The dogs made 25-26tts and the bitches 23tts.My bitch had its 1st roe at 11mths old my mate has bred some same way,then just put a collie/grey back to his bitch,which is doing good
