Here’s a situation;

I get arrested, I get taken to a police station, in the interview room I get offered the use of a duty solicitor. 
I can accept or decline the offer.

I get charged and get a court date, so I contact my solicitor and instruct him that I’ll be applying for Legal Aid. 
I’ll be means tested and if I qualify for Legal Aid, my solicitor will be paid for by Legal Aid, if I don’t qualify , I have to pay my solicitor.

The duty solicitor at the police station and the Legal aid solicitor are not the same thing.

Im sure mC knows this now, but for some reason he keeps moving the goalposts instead of admitting it!

I give up now, no point in saying the same thing over and over.

I get locked up get a solicitor I want not one on duty at the time then at court ill have the same one I had in the  station? 

You can use your own like you said but if they ain't on the list they can't get aid you'd have to use one on the list

Say yes OK will ring one i want so so he's not on list sorry or OK of he's on the list 

Must be different rules down south then because I’ve always used my own and never paid … obviously not all will except legal aid but the majority do because it’s a consistent earner  … barristers are free on legal aid as well for crown ….

What like a multiple choice … here’s a menu of our solicitors , which one would sir like to try …. Feck off you bellend … if you play on the wrong side you know which solicitors to use and ifs a first time , someone always knows one they can recommend, if they’re asleep they usually get up if they’re decent and if they’re away they will send a stand in for the interview …. You can even use the duty solicitor , if your lucky they may be in the station already dealing with another client …. And go no comment then bin em after that and go to another ( not recommended but you could ) …. All for free ….the choice is yours , not the old bills who represents you and wether or not you pay ….

OK your half right but maybe ten year ago the amount in each   area went down massively that can do it threw legal.aid that's what I was getting at

Then why not just say “ the amount of solicitors offering legal aid has decreased in the last ten years “ …… in the first place … not you can only use a duty solicitor or you have to pay ….. I pity your missus trying to have an argument with you , a  written conversation is almost impossible on here ffs … drive a man to drink you would me babber ..

it’ll either keep us on our toes or hasten the Alzheimer’s or dementia.
