We didn’t have ‘phones back then, a policeman came to the door and said someone over 21 had to sit in with my brother. My dad was away at the time so I pretended to be my older brother and offered to go. The policeman was in a car but refused to take me, I had to make my own way there. After he had been charged they said take him home. I said where are his shoes and socks, they said they were keeping them as evidence. I asked for a lift home, no way, and no money for a taxi so he had to walk home, barefoot in the rain. They probably had a good laugh about that . Today the human rights lawyers would be straight on the job ! LOL ! Cheers.

On duty incase needed they ask if you want that one or one of your own …. If you are eligible for legal aid ( most people are ) you use who you want … duty solicitor is only useful if yours is miles away for some reason ,or you don’t know of any ….. thought you’d know that ….you know nearly everything about everything.
