And you pay mate no questions asked your getting a far superior defence depending the type you can afford the more you spend the better

Never paid ... As charts said I got legal aid , I'm sure it never used to be means tested if you went to crown court hence why I chose to go crown court and had to get a barrister and that was free to .. , magistrates you had to pay for your solicitor.

A qc ( or kc now ) is just a senior barrister that has showed enough expertise to be recognised by the monarchy, you could get a qc as a duty solicitor theres no reason they cant do it but as a rule they typically deal with complex or high profile cases in a crown court.

Apparently an old case of mine from years ago actually gets a small mention in a book called Under the Wig written by William Clegg QC when i sued my own solicitor

My brother and I were charged with GBH and Trespass in pursuit of game or coney, over 50 years ago.

He qualified for means tested legal aid , I didn’t.

The solicitor was a pal of our dads and advised us that he would represent my brother on legal aid and me pro bono as we were being tried together.
We were found not guilty of all charges.

We were never offered or asked for a duty solicitor when charged and interviewed at the police station,

Cheers.

Everyone’s ALLWAYS been entitled to a duty solicitor, but fifty years ago there wasn’t cctv and video recordings in rural police houses !

And they weren’t allways honest with you ! LOL !

You should have had an adult present when you were arrested at eight year old.

Cheers.
