For grub tea breakfasts etc I've had 30 in a season against a dog would hang with any mate lol 

And same when any us go it's take turns what's there we slip no kick.ups no plough no.turning down a run

Ahh, so yours weren’t really matches ? They were just walk outs with pals ?

when I had the whippets and greyhounds I had probably 1,000’s of races, won some , lost some.

But actual matches, money matches , challenges , were a different thing.

Heres a few I had with whippets and greyhounds back in ‘72 ;

Or were alot between mates litter mates etc

I would have thought they would have all been against good dogs, I believe alot of money changed hands during those matches. They certainly would have been better than the 30 you beat lol

Mate the dog I ran weekly for seasons was good enough to beat any dog born honest 

And a few I'll be out with every week this season are quality 

And put it this way no lucky foxy blondie would go 30 unbeaten against either the 3 mate 

Matching is alot ahout the man but she was tip class don't hetvme wrong

All jokes aside , the lad had invested time and effort in his dogs to be able to run them off against another man’s charges . 

i take my hat off to anyone willing to do that . Fair play , thirty matches is thirty matches , the man’s taken a chance and won whether that be local , the fens day or night , he’s flashed his dog . 

To run him down is poor form imho

I’ve just checked how much those match monies would be today.

£54 = £960 today.

£70 = £1,180 today. 
 

A lot of money 53 years ago for a 20 year old apprentice !
