Getting something ready for a  day running 3 is a lot different to.running big land every week mate 

He went that black.land fen dogs for his best didn't he ? 

Dancer wouldn't last on the wet running until.one missed against likes blonde or lucky etc in my opinion anyway

the big gritty days , on the black up at cambs / lincs border ,backend of January ,  lashing down , the mud balling to the dogs feet, the wind chattering your wet trousers , the dog , 4 or 5 runs deep , that’s when that heavy Saluki stuff kicks in and shows the value .

Ive had most types including pure Salukis and their crosses.

I haven’t got any favourites, if I was an out and out day walker, I’d have a coursing bred, but I do most things and the Deer x suits what I do now.

I think the days of walking the fens for hours and having 10-12 minute courses are gone now, it’s just not worth the draconian punishments, but get out of the way up the Northumberland fells or across the border to the hills and you can have great days out.

I think most people hear “non-ped “ whippet and think it’s just a whippet without KC papers; it’s not; it’s a purpose bred racing dog, excelling over the sprint distance, a small,( sometimes not so small), greyhound.

I think they are excellent if someone wants to put a bit more speed in their line.

They arent designed to run hares for ten minutes, but they will take hare without any drama, I know, I’ve caught enough ! LOL !

Alan’s dad had non-ped whippets, I particularly remember one called Bucephalus, a very good dog. Used to race against them at Ashington area many years ago.

It's not rocket science mate, if you feed them right and get them fit, there's nothing more you can really do apart from not be a bonehead.

I wonder if Alan’s skill and success with coursing types was somehow influenced by the way his dad and the men around him could condition a whippet ?

He used to be on here, his opinions would be well worth hearing.
