Your neighbour is most likely getting confused between a Hungarian Vizla, a pointer , and a Hungarian Magyar, which is a sight hound and should be capable of taking rabbit and roe;

Hi all, I was having a conversation with a close friend today how we rely very heavily on information through forums and in the days of AI and anything else related you never know who or what you

This is true, I have found the same thing being said by people who own the breed but don’t actually work them. My fella is show bred. But I guess what I’m trying to say is they shouldn’t be written of

Are you really f***ing insane ? LOL ! Cheers.

When I was teenager,I used to help out volunteering for the old  countryside Ranger services in Wales, before NRW took over,I used to go out with the one Ranger Dai Hale,he had 2 x doberman/wire haired gwp x greyhounds from one of the farmers, accidental mating...the one dog Boots was a f***ing machine,looked like a big deerhound x..sit and watch it work the mountain sides back and forth like a pack of hounds...catch and kill foxes for fun...would of been around 93/94👍

My mate picked up a pup  of that sort of  description around that time  from South Wales ,he wanted a Doberman but couldn’t afford one so went for a cross … you have never known  there was dob in the bitch  , was just a wire haired lurcher to look at  with an attitude ,

Back then the dober blood would've still been good. I wouldn't think the UK blood would be any good nowadays with all the show shit about but I'd love to be wrong. I've always had a soft spot for the breed. My cousin had one back around late 80's,early 90's and she was a machine. Guard all-day then spend the night knocking foxes on the farm.

Not a particularly uncommon cross in south wales at the time.

Early eighties my mate bought a pup out of a pure doberman bitch, guard dog to an allotment, to a whippet cross deer/grey, also kept at same allotment.

Bitch he picked was OK for a few lamped rabbits, if they weren't close to any cover/hedges.

He then bred her to a collie/grey cross sal/grey, and kept a dog and a bitch pup out of that litter.

Both were fairly useful alrounders, to be honest.

That Doberman is the spit of how I remember my cousins bitch, big engine, calm demeanor around people she knew. She absolutely hated foxes with a passion. Non of the cropped ear bollocks neither ;)
