The Harrier just became outdated. Cheers. Ah thank you , didn’t realise that , thought when the harrier was withdrawn it was the end of vtol… and couldn’t understand why that would be as it seems a invaluable system. When I worked for Saudi Arabian Airlines I was once loaned to a subsidiary, Saudi Geological Survey, to help change an engine on a Shorts Skyvan. These are basically big vans with wings built to service oil installations in the desert and are VSTOL. They are made in Belfast. Anyhow, I was invited on the test flight and when the engines were “proved “ the captain got out of his seat and said here, takeover ! I nearly shit myself, but had a go, safe in the knowledge the co- pilot REALLY had control if I did anything daft ! LOL ! Cheers. 1

We’ve bought B already and are to buy more (very f***ing slowly). This announcement is specifically the A variant for a nuclear strike role. My concern is given every other capability is hanging by a thread what impact is this new capability going to have? Having read a bit more the As will likely be straight swaps for future Bs so they will reduce the overall carrier strike capability. Maybe that’s a good trade off. But that money could’ve gone into more submarines, the tempest program, or any number of other big impact systems. Like I said, I’m not sure how I feel really. Kinda feels like it’s there to generate political impact, not military.

Stop being a sissy, out of hundreds of flights each week, what's the odds of your flight being blown out of the sky leaving you a charred corpse?
