Separate accounts. Same girl for 27 years and I pay for pretty much everything, including all the motors she’s driven. She pays to maintain/insure her car, her phone bill, and buys most of the shoppin

I set mine up through Your Company Formations and had no hassle at all getting a business bank account sorted after. Their setup process was quick—I had docs through in a day—and that made dealing with the bank way easier. If you're just after something that works fast without loads of back and forth, they were spot on for me.

Always had seperate accounts from the day we moved in together, being a bit of a weirdo I always thought it removed the potential to cause trouble……just keeps clear boundaries about certain things and when you see the grief it can cause other people if the relationship gos boss eyed it sort of makes sense first few years.

My mrs has had access to my accounts whenever she wants, I don’t worry about that and was a second signatory on one of our business accounts once but always had my money & her money personally.

Another reason early was that I never thought it healthy for one person or the other to feel exploited which I always thought is a danger……again a weird quirk.

After 30 years now it’s all blurred anyway but we still retain our own accounts and she does her bits and I do mine……I don’t think there’s a correct way to do it, whatever works for your situation is fine in my book.

From October any transfer over £800, regardless of who it’s from, will be frozen for minimum of 24 hours.
