One of the greatest HW's of all time and what a story, regaining the HW title after a decade out of the sport, sleep well Champ.

I remember him for showing us how much psychology matters in sport.

At the Rumble in the Jungle, Ali got inside his head and destroyed big George.

We were watching through our fingers expecting Ali to be knocked out by the immensely powerful GR. Instead  George was humiliated and lay on the canvas exhausted both mentally and physically.

But, fairplay,he re_ invented himself years later. Some story. One of the true greats.

A terrifying prospect would have been 70's Foreman with the mindset of the 90's Foreman. I would have loved to have seen him face Mike Tyson, there's a well known story that Tyson lost the plot when there was talks about him facing Foreman in the early 90's, apparently he stormed out and shouted to someone, "You fight Foreman if you love him that much!"

His mentor and adopted father, Cus, drilled it in to a young Tyson that Foreman's style was a nightmare for fighters of his stature and style, if the rumours are true, Tyson remembered those wise words.

Mike Tyson could only deliver a burger for big George. If ever there was a boxer with mental frailty it was Tyson. He was great at beating lesser opponents up, but melted like cheese on George's burger when faced with a world class opponent.

Not sure about that mate, he took his beatings like a man when he lost to Douglas & Holyfield. But yes when he wasn't as mentally strong as someone like Ali, Foreman, Holyfield.

Stylistically Foreman might have been all wrong for Tyson but the fact that Tyson carried knock out power in both hands, had a great chin and the fact that Foreman was in his late 30's, early 40's, makes the fight a fascinating prospect, it would have been a much tougher fight for Foreman than Frazier.

What a shame and a great fighter as well...

I remember him saying in the documentary years after the rumble in the jungle....that Ali whispered in his ear during the fight "is that all you got George"....and him saying in the documentary that was all I had...its said they became great friends and talked most days on the phone...

They all had a deep respect for each other, even Frazier & Ali loved each other deep down even though Ali hurt Frazier with some of the things he said & did.
