He would cut leather and nail and glue new soles and heels on. The trouble he should have stuck to the day job. He was a shit cobbler. Half way to school and either a heel or a sole would fall off. Back home he would accuse me of being rough on the shoes and playing football in them. The truth was I used to take my shoes off and play in goal rather than wear them because they always fell apart. I remember once there being football trials for the county. You had to have proper football boots to get on the field. I had to borrow a pair from my cousin, but they were two sizes too big. Eventually I kicked them off and played in my socks. To my surprise I got selected, only because the teacher said I was a trier and he was impressed with my crazy aggression to mix it in defence with no boots. The good old days? Were they f**k.lol Edited November 11 by jukel123 2

I was thinking of getting one of these mate but wondered if they could have a detrimental affect on the leather and glue on the boots as I know it's not recommended to put leather boots near artificial heat . Mine works perfectly tats,a lot of people here have them, they have stood the test of time,i crossed a natural bridge (beaver dam) over a stream a few weeks back and went through a weak part of the structure up to my thigh, one totally soaked boot,it dried out on the boot warmer without damage or smell,my brother in Law has used one for years for hiking boots. 1
ands 587 Posted Tuesday at 06:48 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 06:48 Handy things to get the moisture out of wet boots, must have had them well over 20 years. A few minutes in the micro wave lol or near the fire and they're ready for the next wet spell.

Is that an ex-goose? You’re in North America right? Have you seen much in the way of bird flu. I was on the Norfolk Broads a month or so ago, seen a few dead or dying swans, and the numbers of greylags and swans around Wroxham looked to be completely decimated compared to other times I’ve visited. Shame.

Shame. It was a goose mate, there’s lots of geese around,I saw hundreds passing over this morning till the snow started,I found a few dead this past week but often hear shotguns in the distance so I suspect they might have been hit and continued flying to succumb on the lake at night?I haven’t heard of bird-flu in the general area.
