jigsaw 11,897
There's blood around it's eye sockets and blood on its stomach,so I'm wondering if them big savages of gulls had it's eyes just after being birthed,my thinking is,if it bled it was still alive as the old saying DEAD MEN DONT BLEED ...comes to mind ..all guess work though Edited May 30, 2023 by jigsaw 3 Quote Link to post
grompz 703
dont think id be letting dogs sniff round any dead seals young or old lying on the beaches, only a little while ago dead seals were tested for diseases in my local area and a lot suffered from distemper, also other symptoms were found in them, the other problem on beaches were the number of seabirds found dead with avian bird flu, dont know if it would harm the dogs or not, if they were to scavenge on the dead seals or birds, but my self personally wouldnt beletting dogs loose on beaches these days. atb 2 Quote Link to post
jigsaw 11,897
Didn't know that,...thanks,... The fitness and enjoyment the dogs get on the beaches overides any risk in my view,I've been going to the coast all my life and never had a problem so far thankfully, but I'll keep it in mind for the future , 3 Quote Link to post

My swim in the sea and charge around on the sand most days. 2 Quote Link to post
jigsaw 11,897
Thankfully in 45 years of going there ,it's the first seal I've ever encountered on the beach, and unfortunately (or fortunately, where hunting dogs are concerned) dead... Quote Link to post
