kanny 19,427
Does it have a chance? Or just more theatre? Clearly majority public opinion is pushing this that's politics as it should be but also Clearly the tories need to do something, trying won't cut it this time, labour opposition will probably stop many who borrowed their vote to the tories to sort brexit will not go back to labour could be good news for smaller parties? It feels like the people have drawn the line but are they listening?

The push back is definitely gathering momentum, whether or not the government actually do anything remains to be seen.
Dutch 213
As much as the bill’s a good thing, it will be overruled by the European court of human rights
chartpolski 20,431
The bill should clear this stage, but a government spokesman said today it will get bogged down in the Lords who will try to block it. He said if there’s no movement on it by the end of the year (!) they may have to use the Parliament Act to get it through. Nothing will happen until after the next General Election and by that time it will be to late, Labour will be in power and will drop the bill and open the already wide floodgates even further ! Cheers. 1
Deker 3,453
FFS, why is it that every time the Government tries to make an effort and do something, minority voices crop up from everywhere, and efforts are hampered or totally scuppered!! 3

They are saying it will be retrospective to the date it was put to parliament. But honestly, I don’t think it will be enacted. Labour will get in and drop the bill.
