Make you laugh all these cnuts who think they are saving the planet with electric cars...electric cars don't start to compete with combustion engines for carbon footprint until they have done 60/70 thousand miles,  now most electric cars are leased  and people change them every 3 years as a rule with 30/40 thousand miles done so they are actually creating more carbon than fossil fuel cars so your right Dan the whole thing is one big scam mate ?

Read an article the other week, a journalist got lent a Volvo electric car to do a write up on, He had a trip planned that he did regularly in his diesel car. This trip was 175 miles each way. The stated range on the electric Volvo was 250 miles. The night before the journey he let it charge over night, The next morning he got into the vehicle to start the journey. He then discovered that the display was telling him he could only do 125 miles before having to recharge, Halfway there he stopped at a service station to recharge, He then discovered if you want to charge the car quicker then you have to pay a far bigger rate to do so, To cut a long story short the journey there and back took him 6hrs long and cost him £60 more than it would have done in his diesel car.

I have had a couple of Hybrid's and they seem a more sensible idea than all electric.

The batteries are only guaranteed for 5 years, After that period the value of the car will plummet as to replace them is upwards of £15,000.

Do you find, in real life, that the people  who own electric cars are doing it for ‘the earth’?

Personally, I don’t. I find they tend to just be technophiles, attracted to EVs because they are just big gadgets. If they don’t get on with them they’ll quite happily go back to a Range Rover.

6 months ago i rented a new Ford Puma 1.0L ecoboost hybrid and could not get more than 40 mpg out of it,what is the point/benefit of a Hybrid?

The first Hybrid i had was a Toyota Auris 1.6, That would do 112mpg on a run, Then i had another Hybrid a 2.5ltr Toyota Rav4 with 2 electric motors, That did around 50mpg on a run, Now i have a 2ltr injection petrol BMW that is averaging around 34mpg. all from new. If i could get the fuel economy of the Auris with the comfort and intelligent all wheel  drive of the Rav4, combined with the handling of the BMW, Then i would have the car i want,
