I said before a long time ago that now, as an older bloke, I realise we should have supported the miners because it meant so much more than just “the industry”……at the time I was young and just viewed it through the prism of The Sun and Scargills is a commie b*****d so f**k em type thing.

They were standing in the way of Thatchers brave new, get out and get it for yourself world to lads like me……how f***ing wrong were we ?!!
What a bollocks up we sowed the seeds for and allowed to happen.

What would you know, you were too busy dishing out speeding tickets and fining old dears for flicking their fag ash.

Wrong again. Clueless as ever.

Never issued a speeding ticket or one for littering. Too busy catching car thieves and burglars.

Aye, I bet you were, tell us another one Lone Ranger.

Have you heard the one about the bloke who has to keep inventing new identities and always gets found out within 24 hours? Greb, the man of a thousand identities and every one the same, a clueless tw@t.

Could you imagine what the reaction would have been from all the lads who worked at the pits in South Yorkshire if then the Rotherham grooming scandal had come to light their would have been a bigger response than their was when it came to light.

I've a few close friends that have been welding for 30 plus years and their lungs are fcuked from the smoke.

It's a bad job for your health if you don't use the proper breathing masks same as that scrap burning with the oxygen and gas a job I once turned down as lads on a big demolition job used to be made to have blood tests to see if they had lead in their blood. I thought feck that for a game of soldiers.

After a days welding I get very heavy in the chest , even worse if it's rusty stuff I've to clean and weld ..

Got an air fed mask in work now which is good feel fresh after a days welding

Without a doubt, community spirit has been dead & buried a long time now.

It died the day the strike ended mate in March 85 in my own personal view. I went to the first miners gala held in Clifton park Rotherham had a walk over with the lurcher as i only lived around the corner from the park it all kicked off in the beer tent with the Barnsley lads and Rotherham lads that ended up with both groups raining bricks and bottles down on each other sad as feck when previously the same lads would have stood side by side fighting on the picket lines for their jobs and community's Thatcher would have laughed her tits off if she had seen this incident knowing she had got what she wanted the working class at each others throats.

Do you think the tide turned when they killed that lad by throwing a block off the bridge into his windscreen mate ?

It didn't help mate and the press went to town on the incident. I admit the pits had its fair share of hot heads .

Things are lot better than they were even 10 years ago with air fed masks and extraction systems but still not a job I'd like to be doing all day every day.
