Didn't they get some sami herders in years ago to attempt to wipe them out? Killed thousands?

Don't even need a rod there, just hand speed and a shallow stream lol

Iirc the falklands has feral herds of caribou/reindeer. They also have some great looking wild trout fishing (a lad on here posted about it while he was posted down there).

If it was possible to go down there, cull some caribou and roam about spinning for trout and whatever else at an economical cost, I’d be all over it.

I read something about a cull yeah. Can't exactly remember though.

I think they tried to eradicate them to protect the native flora as the population density was more than the grazing could sustain, they killed thousands, got the numbers right down or maybe even eradicated them.

heard there's some good fishing out there?

Looked like it would be, was there for about a month but didn't get much time to get round the islands.

Water wells or are you interested in the geology? What sort of instrumentation do you use? Downhole tools like wireline?

I'm out of all that now.

Geological investigation on site now .

5m auger holes for compressive strength , particle size displacement and  sheen tests

8m excavated pit for soil profile assessments

trial pits for axial strength and cookie cutter samples

hope that makes sense….

And before any of the usual non starters say anything

Sounds like the requirements are for construction. Some of it is similar though. Core samples are pretty standard for analysis in shallow stuff, go deeper and the process and analysis becomes more demanding iirc, hence the need for downhole kit/measurements.
