I've had a long, hard day. I'm Fukked. But, I just been dealing with my man here. I'm So pumped, I just have to tell ye about him!

:boogy: Here he is! I got him a week back, Saturday. The cost of him was extortionate. The cost of the taxi was un fukking imaginable!!! But, hell yeah! He's worth it! :D

I've kept my mouth shut, thus far, because I wanted to get him settled in and acclimated.

When I got him, he was barely two inches. Now, he's closer to two and a half. They said he was eating crickets? Uh huh. I bought a dozen frozen pinkie mice anyway. I've raised one of These fukkers before, don't forget!

Hungry fukker's already scarfed his way through TWO packs of crickets. And his dozen pinks!!! These were the little 1 - 2g ones. Barely bigger than a big cricket. But packing way more punch for him.

I've had to order some chicks a bit early, just to get in Two dozen more pinks. These being the 3 - 4g ones. Looking at it? I don't know what I was thinking. He'll blow through them in a week!!!

He has the appetite of a small nation and the attitude of a soulless one! He's fukking Awesome! :toast:

His name's " Bollocks ". And here he is, being Awesome! I fukkin Love him! :clapper:

What’s craic with his set up, I wanna know

Home made tank. 3' long. 16" wide. 10" high. Lifted 2" at this end.

He has a little rock, this end. Just to get him out of the water. Other, deep end he has a larger rock (Water's about 1 1/2" there. He can sit in it or get on his rock)

Eighty Watt heat lamp there. Sits above one side, on a mesh panel in the lid. Has the equivalent of a Fluval #1 filter there. That causes a lovely little whirlpool, mid tank. Any visible /solid waste (cricket chitin, what ever) gets formed into a 'solid' little mass there. I can just net it out.

Poly tiles around the last 10", keeps him warm and private at his end. In the morning, I find him on his shallow end rock. He likes to sleep in the cool at night. Soon as we get up, he fukks off down his end.

He likes to do his 'Special Forces ~ Nam' bit. Floating around with just the top of his face above water. Waiting for food. He's Always waiting for food!

Did I mention; He's fukking Awesome and I love him?

Now, to bed! I'm shattered :good:

You want to get yourself a dubia roach colony going pal he'll cost you a fortune ordering livefood in, they're seriously easy to breed and they don't stink or make a racket like crickets. Much better nutrition too.

He's a real cracker look forward to seeing him grow

Each to their own as a kid I was fascinated by newts frogs and toads caught in water filled dykes at the side of railway bankings. The amount of live foods we have coming through us every day keeping these exotic pets must be more popular than people think.

I'm in Devon at the moment, and there is a night heron here ,bit of a rarity apparently, seen it a couple of times now.

How big is he now/will be and how long until maturity?

:hmm: It's genuinely not that easy for me to say, mate. See, shit gets complicated!

The one I had before was an " African Bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus) ". Okay?

Simple times. Life was good. We read books and wrote letters. Met each other and passed on information, person to person.

'Bullfrog', in those days, could grow to the size of a small fist, inside six months. Go from eating crickets to full grown (defrosted) white mice, in that time.

Eventually? Well, I actually saw one, in the same room as me. Fukker must have been eight inches wide! :icon_eek: Direct threat to a full grown fukking Rat, at that stage!

Now ? I soon found, on the internet, that some dudes in Africa have described what they now call " Pyxicephalus adspersus edula "! The Edible African Bullfrog. And I very strongly suspect Bollocks here is one of them.

Now, I found some top flight 'Bullfrog boys discussing this shit, on a forum. They were completely blown away. They were posting a Decade ago! 'After my time' then.

But, from what I gathered? It seems there's now the " Giant African Bullfrog " and the " Edible African Bullfrog ". Edible only appears to go about half or so the size of the 'original'? Not sure. Shit's sketchy.

Either way, they're both hell of a frogs. Very similar in character and behaviour.  I fukkin Love 'em! :boogy:

Funnily enough, Ceratophrys (So called 'Pacman Frogs') is a very similar frog. But, I wouldn't give one tank space! They just don't do it for my like the Pyxi's :good:

How do I get a photo of the tree frogs? Loads of them outside last night, zoned in on a sound, crept a bit closer.... Closer.... Clo.. The sound stopped, went for another who also went silent only to start up again when I walked off ?

Don't the African type usually bury themselves in their substrate the same as the ceratophrys?

They adapt to their environments, mate. I read of one guy whose African used to do the whole estivation routine, under a bit of flower pot, or what ever.

He'd give it a month, then 'water' it and out it would pop!

Dunno what sort ye dealing with there, Mack? But, they generally won't actually go anywhere. They just shut the fukk up. But, they'll still be there.

Really no telling Where, there, unfortunately. Just a matter of playing Hide And Where The Fukk Are You?

If it's shit like Spring Peepers? Bloody good luck! Size of ye little finger nail and well cammo'd! :icon_eek:
