Using the abortion angle won't do you any favours. You're in the minority with that view and it'll put hunters in the same boat as the anti-abortion lot. I think it's a tactically poor decision if you want to save hunting.

You don't have to win over the conservatives, you need to win over everyone to the left of you and using abortion will not do that.

I'm not an expert so no one should listen to me. For what it's worth I think you (we) need to show your humanity to those who know you as nothing more than 'psycho killers'. Show how much hunting means to you culturally. It's not just a hobby or sport, it's a way of life and a sub-culture of Ireland that they want to erase and yet if it was happening to an African culture they'd be bending over backwards to send money to protect it. Get out and tell your stories and share the pain it'll cause to the people who have never really met you and been a part of it. Put a face and a heart to the shit they are fed by the antis and see if that makes folk think twice about killing off their own people's culture and community.

Honestly though, I don't envy you because I really think it's a hard and complex fight.
