A nine week old pup won’t have the teeth or jaw strength to kill a rat so stop talking shit.

she still did though.  the first rats she took where young ones by the way. and and me and my other dogs always treid to catch the big ones when  she was younger but she did take loads(later also full grown rats)  with her puppy teeth. it is just how it is if you don't believe it that is fine by me.

Look fella your not in the pub talking to naive young lads who hang on your every bullshit world. This site is full of folk who have been at this game for decades. I have probably killed more rats in a day than you’ve killed on your life. So please don’t embarrass yourself any further by spouting any more shit …….

9 weeks and ratting under pallets....

No dog has ever been ruined by late entering but plenty have been ruined by starting them too early...

I do know of a bloke who has mini bushing dogs, tiny little yorkie looking things. No idea what they are like on rats but they can run through an earth like its the Mersey Tunnel. Wouldn't know if they could fit under pallets either, that job would best suit a big hob ferret imo.

If its tiny ratters you want, breed your own. It's a risk but there are loads of toy breeds you could use. You'd just have to find one with attitude.

Funny though, there are some serious lads who rat on this site and on the ratting FB sites i'm on. Lads that take huge numbers every year. None of them have ever needed mini anything to the job and standard sized mutts have done just fine.

My guess is that your ego wants a tiny dog. Let it squeeze under pallets because your too lazy to move them yourself. You'd buzz off a mini dog all marked up with rat bites and risking it in places others wouldn't put a dog in. Same with your post wanting micro ferrets, when a good standard jill works just fine on the rats. You just want your ego massaged, showing off your mini's...

Think you need to re-evaluate what your doing in this game... 😉

Think I no the ones your on about if he’s from your neck woods , there russle  X chihuahua with years line breeding behind them , I no the lad who started them off and his stock were  ratters ,

they got two rows of teeth top and bottom ,weird little fuckerrs lol

I watched a 10 week old lakes pup nab an nail a half grown rat, pup had a serious little head on it tho an a real bad attitude from before it’s eyes where open 😂

Also heard of a 12 week old patterdale pup kill 2 ferrets that’s escaped there run.

jist because you ain’t seen summat or don’t think it sounds right don’t mean it ain’t true, either way I wouldn’t start a pup that young but what a man does with his dogs is his business 😁

The denning Russells I had were trying to bite through the live catch cage of rats at 8 weeks but I didn't let them loose with them at that age, more worried about the pups getting badly bitten. Don't know if they had the jaw strength at that age but used to mess my hands up playing, lol. 4 weeks old in pic.

I bump into an old fella on my daily walk (warrington)who used to keep terriers. We always have a chat and he’s name dropping all sorts of people, I don’t know anyone with dogs anyway 😂 so wasted on me.  But he’s mentioned couple of times a guy who has Russell chihuahuas for ferreting. Thought he was talking sh*t using them instead of ferrets but seems a bit of a coincidence.

and for now can we please go on about the original post and quite the crap. or at least don't make negative/ calling name like assumptions. i think that is not the reason for a forum like this. the questioning and asking why or how is fine by me by the way. in my opinion a forum is a way of gathering and sharing information. and yes you will find people there who have a different way of doing things.  to me that is why such a forum is of interest people with other knowledge than me.  i don't care  much about who has caught the most of rats in their lifetime. to me it matters if i might learn something new from how you caught your rats.  to me it aint a pissing contest. but i do need to take a piss at times. i hope that i can choose my own tree to piss against.
