Starting from scratch

Hi, introduced myself and my sal x lad under new members bit but wanted to come down here too and say hi. 

I've got a 4 yo ex rabbiting and coursing dog, was let stray by travellers and has a couple of old injuries which I've been working with to help him get fitness back. He's taken a year to be decently handlable, not terrified, adaptable to new situations, and I've been building the bond every day. He's got a fairly solid recall, still needs his fitness building (saluki x, still needs muscle work) so I'm taking him out on the bike every day and starting to stockbreak properly - not good around sheep and I'm not taking that risk. 

Think he needs some hunting work again, don't want him to be miserable away from that life so a friend's offered to take us out with him rabbiting. Don't know what my lad'll be like - any tips/training commands to help him get his old rabbiting days back?

Just going to take things slowly and see how he gets on.

Should say, he's been lure coursing and went mental chasing it. Gave up the lure no problem when he caught it and it was clear he'd got the bug back again. Was geared up all day that day waiting for another go on the lure. It's clear he needs some more chasing!

Haha, only that my mum couldn't eat meat when pregnant with me, one of those aversion things, and I've never liked it weirdly. Not against anyone eating meat, just hate the stuff myself. Only thing I've ever liked is a bit of salami it's not for want of trying.

Not really, so why the vegetarianism? 

Oh yeah, are you just a vegetarian, or a full on vegan?

What about eggs, cheese, fish etc, you ok with that?

So I come on here asking for advice with helping my dog get back to rabbiting, and the only thing people are talking about is my dietary habits which are irrelevant? Thought this forum might be better than that!

Here to talk about my dog. Any comments about what I like to eat will be ignored from now on, shouldn't have to justify it when it's quite clear I'm not against hunting.

100% not a rabbiting dog just let him chase a rag thats all thats legal that he might catch

What's he like around othed dogs when he's offlead?  Seen more than a few 'skittish/nervy' dogs bolt for the hills when let loose around other dogs.  Maybe a good idea to establish what he's like on that score, before you venture too far into the countryside.

How do you no it was romani folk that duped the dog ,I ask because every rescue lurcher owner i have talked to says the gypsies dumped it ,I'm a traveler and my people would never dump a dog ,they might pass one on but not dump a juckel ,and [BANNED TEXT] folk say this and that I'm talking about decent English romani who take great pride in there juckels and animals ,plenty of dogs dumped by lots of folk because they didn't make the grade but why do you say it was gypsies .don't get me wrong good and bad in every breed and no doubt some let the side down but not all rescues was gypsy dogs

I course with a few travellers and their dogs more looked after than their wifes lol normally dogs got on hare missed it and got on another on way back I saw it happen a few times then binos  come out and drive roads near scanning for dog or coulda been lost lamping but ..... always travellers
