Ken's Deputy 4,456
Trying out trail cam settings last night, as usual. Dark, blustery night. Foxes and badger about, as usual. Dreadful setting, as it turns out. But, I'll cover that on my dedicated thread. I've now cut this clip brutally. All we get now is a gust of wind, then the two second call: Some bird. I don't know what the hell it is! It's got me beat and it's doing my head in! Edited February 16, 2021 by Ken's Deputy
South hams hunter 8,837
Sounded like a kid making a funny noise
Arry 18,588
Reckon Little Owl. Cheers Arry
Meece 1,957
Could be the wind. I've heard very similar sounds on Fox calling download sounds...... which don't sound like any natural noises I've ever heard. If you go and lòok at Foxes calling sounds and trawl through I'm sure that you will find similar noises.

Rabid 1,936
Sounds like a little owl to me, hear it all the time round here as we have a good number of them.
walshie 2,804
On another note....are you sure your camera isn't faulty? You said you're having trouble setting it up, but that video is like something you'd see on a £29 chinese camera, not a Bushnell.
Ken's Deputy 4,456
Arry; I don't know how we're supposed to explain sounds to each other, in writing, mate? But, your LO is just like " Whee - Ooh " Where as mine has a more 'bubbling', 'trilling' thing going on. Have another listen, with that in mind. You should pick up on what I mean. I'm wondering Wader, frankly. Whimbrel pass through here, at a given time of year. Dunno.
Ken's Deputy 4,456
Walshie; I'm working my way through All the settings. Trying a new one every night. I'm recording it all, for reference, on my Trail Cam Settings thread. And, yeah; That particular setting was absolutely fukking useless!!! Never again! But, at least we know now
South hams hunter 8,837
Could be a wader, hard to hear over the wind but I'd be looking more at dunlin from what I heard.

Ken's Deputy 4,456
Okay, lads; I've now edited the clip. No more distractions. Just that bird, above the wind - or with is, as it were.
Greyman 25,258
Are you near the coast or an estuary as it sounds like one of the many foreshore species I hear when I,m on the Severn way if it’s an owl maybe give a few calls yourself and see if you get a return,
Ken's Deputy 4,456
Jigs could be onto something here! It'd make sense. I'm just now listening to various curlews, trying to match my sound. 1
