Recommended Posts

so now that i have lost the ability to do squats as my arms can not go behind my head i have been doing this for my major leg exercise.so today i had just done my heaviest of my sets when the an instructor came up and said how much weight was that?.i had just done 325kg,s and he said that was really good going and the max he knew of was 400kg,s by some big fella who was a pt.made my day anyway.told him then that this time last year i was doing 425kg,s  but with all the breaks with corvid i am a bit down on what i can do.so is this a good weight for an old man or was he just being polite ?

He was being kind mate ,that's an embarrassingly low weight .

same ..left rotator cuff...i do front squat...safety bar squat if your gym has a one is your answer...

No, just sweaty blokes.

I remember one day in the gym a lad was sitting on the leg press for over five minutes without doing a single rep, I was about to ask him if he was finished as I was waiting to use it, when he hauled himself to his feet and staggered towards the door, I don't know how many reps if any he managed, but the pin was in the bottom plate of the 250kg stack lol

Leg press, in my case, gave me bigger and better leg developement than squats. Plus, conventional squatting is an unnatural position for the body to be in.

unnatural position...??

leg press machines can vary a hell of a lot....

also foot position and depth can be masive as well.....put your feet low on the plate feet close together toes out...is far different to feet at the top of the plate and shoulder width apart

Foot placement is key.

I mean the holding of the bar on your upper back/traps. It's not a natural position, especially won't do your lower back any favours.

Not if your doing it right .

I put my back out deadlifting in 2014 , have been very reluctant ever since .

you’d be amazed at how many people can’t one rep 150 kg .

all that leg strength must be underpinned by proper form and no ego.

It was that “put on another 5kg” attitude that f****d me for a year , I still feel it now and even more with my piss tank pulling it over my hips.

garbage
