Fairweather takes another.

Recommended Posts

Shall we say on the edge of my central patch is a farm drive of concrete. Wheat one side, pasture the other. A dog fox barked as I walked up the drive but I had not seen any eyes so I gave a good squeal. By the second squeal he appeared. He stopped at 100yds or so side on.

Fairweather sent the 20gn Hornady into the ribs and flattened Charlie with barely a twitch. I couldn't find the in or the out but it certainly did the job perfect.

Same farm track as last week tonight. I got some intel off youngratter who visits on here sometimes that he heard a fox howling etc. Sure enough at the farm end was a cat and a fox. They seemed t

Well that's the Winchester 17g ammo gone. Fave is still the 20g by Hornady.

Having a bit of experience with it now how do you feel it compares to other rimfire cartridges for what you do?

To be absolutely honest...I've been a little unkind to it in the past. It has plenty of reach to make shooting at crows interesting. It's quiet. Safe and no worse in the wind than WMR, probably better.

The hornady 20g is beating the new Winchester 20g in reliability and suffering less cracked cases but the hornady 20g bullet is slightly tougher than the Winchester.

I've had one for a few years now and can't really fault it. I hardly use it these days but if I had a sensible number of rabbits to get into then I'd be very grateful to have that particular tool in the box.

I’ve always thought reading your posts it was the ideal tool for the close range hunting you do I’m glad it’s working out for you, and pre owning one yourself I think the banter we were hearing from you was just an inner yearning ? good shooting.

We've just got to convince Ianm, some how though I know that’s not going to happen lol ?

If we had lots and lots of rabbits i still wouldn't have a hateful hmr.

No siree! i would get myself another lurcher. In fact i would rather use snares than a hmr and i dislike strangling wildlife immensely.?
