I had a Renault Megane Sport and the electronics were shocking in it. Edited July 5, 2020 by Greb147

They are a big old car like, I'm not even sure we need a diesel but I want something that is big enough to carry the dog.

Greb147 6,810
Went to see a 15 plate Passat Estate GT with 89K on the clock, it was a lovely car but it's one of those garages that won't do f**k all to the car and won't budge on price. The c**ts wouldn't even let me take it for a proper test drive and could only drive it in circles around the car park. Today I'm going to look at a Seat Leon X-Perience estate, it's like a rugged estate with a raised ride height and 4 wheel drive. It's the same year as the Passat but it has got DSG which I fancy trying plus the garage said they will service it and do the cambelt for the asking price. It's around 500 quid cheaper than the Passat but it is 100 quid more to tax for the year. Edited July 15, 2020 by Greb147
Stavross 18,017
When you look at the seat, make sure the dsg has been serviced correctly, vw/Audi have had a lot of problems with that box, I’ve got an Audi s3 with dsg and 9 months from new it needed a new box with less than 6000 miles on the clock, the cost of repair is sometimes enough to write the car off, once the Audi is out of warranty in November it’s going

It does has full service history with the car. Would a standard service cover the gearbox?

It should show on the digital service record at the main dealer what has been done to it, I think on mine it’s every 3 years it should have a gearbox oil and filter, it’s covered in the major service, I have a mate who looks after mine who works for an independent Audi specialist and he says it should be done every 2 years, I think the fault is when the oil is worn it doesn’t pump it around the box properly, starving part of the box of oil, this wasn’t the case with mine, I was giving it some and a bearing shat itself, the new box was £7000 and they are chassis specific and had to come from Germany, Audi had the car for 7 weeks

The dealer claims it drives sweet but if the box hasn't been serviced in 90K would it have suffered damage? Edited July 15, 2020 by Greb147

I couldn’t say, if that’s been motorway miles then maybe it would be ok but it’s it’s constantly been up and down the box it would put me off a bit, that’s why I don’t have mine serviced at Audi because I know they won’t do it but charge me for it
