DIDO.1 22,869
We cancelled the TV licence about a month ago. Just had a red letter from them. What shall I do next? Phone em up and tell em we no longer watch live TV? Or just ignore em. What can we expect next? Bailiffs? TV detector van in Street?
Nicepix 5,650
When I cancelled my TV Licence we got letters for years afterwards threatening legal action. I just ignored them. Never got a knock on the door while we were in and we didn't get another TV until we moved to France four years later. We were still getting letters right up to moving. Gav 1,708
Just ignore them, only ever had one person call in the last twenty years, told them I wasn't interested and they went away, still get letters, they just go in the bin!
MH1 1,954
Bailiffs, but they have to stand 2m away lol
Gav 1,708
No contact no contract, tell them nothing, they have no legal rights to access your property, they can only get a conviction if you sign the form admitting guilt. Never ever been any such thing as a TV detector van! Just an empty van to worry folk.
Gav 1,708
We have laws in Scotland that prevent anyone knocking on your door demanding money, if they come to your door here they're commiting an offence!

Ignore the letter do serious time I don't think I'd have my FAC if I had I've only been back in the UK the last forty years or so, and had this house the last twenty or so, hence why I said twenty years, I've never had a license for a TV ever. Born Hunter 17,981
I've not paid for a license for years. Got a heap of threatening letters. Eventually decided to phone them and they said "that's fine, well contact you again in two years to check nothing has changed". They tried but I ignored them so started getting letters again. Been ignoring them for a couple years now. They managed to catch me at home once in all that time. Told the fella that I didn't need one and he asked to come in to check, which I laughed and refused, cheeky fuckers, lol. Anyway, back to threatening letters. It's nonsense, phone em or ignore. Whatever you can be arsed with really.
forest of dean redneck 12,023
Ignore it, it will die down to when it's due for renewal they send one asking if you still have same circumstances.
low plains drifter 11,511
I've been getting alternating letters one requesting the next threatening for years, they sent one of their dipsticks round once he didn't come again
