Arry 23,687
Do they do Swailling (not sure about the spelling) on Saddleworth Moor? As on Dartmoor at the moment they are doing loads, had to drive through smoke so thick you could hardly see the road and large flames licking over the wall beside the road yesterday. This is deliberate burning done to encourage new growth, you could see if the wind got up could easy get out of control. Cheers Arry
Rat face 1,655
They don't do it any more buddy and thats the problem. If it was burnt off properly at the right time if the year this sort of thing wouldn't happen..... every year as a kid. Farmers and keepers would plan out what to burn and when.
Arry 23,687
Just now, Rat face said: They don't do it any more buddy and thats the problem. That sounds about right the Gleeny Greenies are trying to stop it down here. They been managing the Dartmoor for years that way, but the people with masters degrees etc know better. cragman 2,812
It’s not Saddleworth moor but Marsden moor. Saddleworth was looking fine today but opposite, Chew valley, we’ve had four fires this week. I was in first light putting the b*****d out this morning. It started at 9.30 last night. I work on the moor and surrounding area and it’s been a nightmare with this weather 2
