I visit the states quite regularly and (at least the people I see) seem a lot more sheepish than us. They seem very obedient and a lot more respectful of authority than we are. Anyone with a name badge seems to command total unquestioning respect of the people who pay their wages, so I guess an uprising with or without guns is a lot less likely there than it would be here. Seems crazy you can and do get a ticket there for jaywalking but you can have a Glock in your belt.

To be fair the jaywalking ticket is to deter you from f*cking up someone's car. Makes a right mess.

I have no actual idea but a theory is that their public servants may earn that respect instead of cutting about as glorified tax collectors.......at least they shoot the bad guys, not put the victim in prison for calling the criminal a rude name ! Lol Well the Sheriff who gave me a speeding ticket for a few mph over the limit recently when I was being evacuated from a hurricane didn't earn my respect. He seemed to demand it and expect it. Didn't get it though. The dickhead.
jukel123 9,708
The obvious truth is.... the yanks have ridiculous gun laws. No amount of defending the 'right of the individual to bear arms' and all that bollox can bring back 50 odd innocent concert- goers and thousands of other innocent lives every year. To take the yankee argument to its logical conclusion, an individual should be able to possess a nuclear bomb to deter the government from taking liberties with its citizens. They've got a collective screw loose.

Born Hunter 17,960
You don't need nuclear weapons to resist oppression. LOL Watch Red Dawn, it's all documented!

We are permitted to possess guns providing we are not loonies or have a history of violence and plan to use them legitimately. In America any idiot can buy an assault rifle. jukel123 9,708
Theoretically I can appreciate the American argument concerning the right to bear arms. But in reality that freedom becomes oppressive to the vast majority of its citizens. Believe me if every Rangers or Celtic bigot had the right to carry guns, there would be carnage every time these teams met each other. Sometimes reality must take precedence over theory.
