I managed to get a couple of hours off yesterday so, I took a drive out to my favourite RFD to get my bottle filled.

 

On the way there, I was thinking I'll have another look at that LR90

 

After being in there for a while, I spotted a Falcon FN12.

...... It's an older rifle and, it's in excellent condition. It turned out that it used to belong to Paul who runs the place.

 

I could tell that it's been well cared for. It's very smooth to operate. As an added bonus, it came with the original bag which, is in immaculate condition

 

Paul was saying that he's got it set around 11.7ftlb with JSB Exacts and, from a 160bar fill, it'll give 30 good shots.

 

Just to help justify it to myself - I do have a load of .22 pellets that need using up

The scope that came with it wasn't great so, I stuck a different one on and, set about zeroing it in this morning.

 

I put a target up at 30yrds indoors.

 

The integrated quick fill / silencer is good but, it's not great as a silencer. With an adaptor and an HW silencer, it's very quiet

 

It took 9 shots to get it zeroed

 

...... the last 3 shots were at the same pellet hole - this is what they looked like when I dug them out of the brochures

I put up a new target and, fired 10 JSB Exacts (15.89gn) at the centre.

 

And again - the mass of pellets after

 

I'm that impressed with this little rifle - it's compact, well balanced, smooth, accurate, quiet - there may be an Ultra up for sale soon

There's a couple of small dings on the woodwork but, considering it's a bit of a retro item, it's nothing that I can't live with.

 

The metalwork is bang on

Falcon fn,s are amazing. Had loads of them in all lentgh cyls and stock types and all have been shockingly accurate. The fn 12 was great when driving the stubbles you just made me regret selling it even more lol. I'm sure you will bond well with it!

I've never had one of these before.

I like that it's such an uncomplicated little rifle. The accuracy from it has amazed me today.

Forgive my ignorance here, but is falcon a british make, and were they out before brocock, as that looks very similar to the contour?

I'd expect that fn12 is mid 1990,s john bowket designed the valve. Falcon is British and where out before the brocock. Ahead of their time back then mine where mega reliable and went years without even a seal change.

I don't usually go for skeleton stocks either but, now that I've held this, I can see the attraction - it's going to be a piece of piss to carry round all day

That's more info than I had before mate

 

I asked about the age of it on another forum but, I was told that Falcon never kept records and, the seial number doesn't give any kind of date.

 

Mid 90s will do me though - right around the time I left school so, this will be roughly 22yrs old, give or take a bit.

 

I also never knew that John Bowket had a hand in it.

To be honest mate, I've seen pictures of them before and they've not done anything for me - it was handling it and shouldering it that sold it

 

I was surprised when I dug them pellets out for a look.

 

..... I just need to learn how to use a .22 properly now
