walshie 2,804
Just took the dogs for their annual jabs and they have to go back in 3 weeks for a booster. Is that normal nowadays? Quote Link to post
jonah. 775
did it to me last year, didn't have two visits this year though. I seem to remember the vet saying something along the lines of a different brand vaccine, I didn't get charged anymore. Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
Need to read up about jabs its just a con I know about the pros/cons but if we want to put the dogs in kennels while we go on holiday, their jabs have to be up to date. Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Yeah it's all one big con. Like you say Walshie to go in kennels they have to be done and also to have pet insurance they need all the correct jabs etc. Corrupt from all angles. Quote Link to post

That's not true as all my mutts are insured and don't have yearly boosters the insurance said that is fine they just won't cover for anythin the vaccine covers. Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Well according to my Mam her pet insurance is void if she doesn't get yearly booster. That is 100% as she had a carry on with them a couple of years ago about it, and I bollock her for getting it done when they're so cheap to buy and the fact that the yearly ones are unnecessary. walshie 2,804
On the bright side, they are half the price they were in London. Quote Link to post
whitefeet4190 1,729
I used to think it was a load of bollocks but it's just good kennel management getting dogs jabbed Quote Link to post

Probably depends on the policy and the provider, I know PetPlan ask if they're up to date with vaccines when you're signing up so obviously as long as you're honest they'll be covered, other companies may vary but PetPlan are the only insurers I'd bother with anyway. Same here. Not got boosters and I've got insurance with pet plan. Asked them about it and no problem unless they get an illness due to not being vaccinated. I've made claims and never been asked to provide proof of vaccination. My vet looks after my dogs when I go on holiday for £10 per day per dog. She knows they're working dogs and is really good with them. She doesn't push annual vaccinations at all which tells me they're a waste of money. 2 Quote Link to post
Jax13 251
It's all a big con... Until one of them gets a dose of parvo. There is an argument to say that they don't really need them after about 3 years old, maybe going to every 2 or 3 years to keep a bit of cover. Personally I'll always have mine jabbed. I've seen dogs with lep and parvo and wouldn't wish either on any of mine. Quote Link to post

Sure some Mickey Mouse insurance company's will avoid tryin to pay out at any costs. But if you go with a well established decent company like petplan or Tesco or Asda like I am. They will pay out and not worm there way out of it. I have made numerous claims and not once been question about vaccinations. Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
It's a necessity in this day and age, the same as if you don't bring your dog to get it's toe nails clipped every 2 months it could die. 2 Quote Link to post
