A Joy To Be Out

Recommended Posts

Got out again tonight for a few hours after work.

Glorious warm sunshine, lovely constant chorus of song birds and " not a magpie in sight". I`ve put the effort in to control the Magpies and now the wood is full of song/ game birds.

I was looking for one more rabbit to compliment the one I got last time out for a nice stew over the week end.

This fella lifted his head to a squeak,- got him smack on the money at 38 yds, ( my zero range), through the back of the eye and out through the back of the head, instant despatch.

Also took three pigeons but I only allowed him to retrieve from a clear of glass area.

Took this at 48 yds lased, with a neck shot.

The crop was crammed with clover.

Nice job Mark. Do you eat the pigeons mate ?

I prefer them to wabbit if I'm honest.

Yes Bunny I do.

Matt Parnell off " Wild Food Foragers" gave me a pigeon pasty recipe and that one pigeon will make six lovely pasties.

Nice one Mark. I tend to fry my pigeon breasts in garlic butter for a min either side then leave for 8-10 mins on very low heat in the oven.

Very tasty and tender

I agree mate

I cooked my last one in olive oil, skin on but, the lucky mutts got most of it as a treat

Mark - post that recipe up mate, I'd love to give it a whirl :good:
