DogMan85 722
After that performance from GGG I would retire asap, I think he's turned into an old man overnight.
DogMan85 722
Just watched it. I think jacobs won that. Ggg looks like hes been hit with the punchers curse just looking for a big shot forgetting his boxing. Gutted for jacobs really thought he had that. I think Golovkin won but he looked very poor doing so. It's either his mentality or he can no longer pull the trigger, he never got out of first gear throughout the fight. He should have been pouring it on in the championship rounds but for whatever reason there was nothing there. I personally think he's aged overnight and is passed it. Go and watch some of his early fights, the loss of speed is massive. Brook definitely asked questions of him, this fight confirmed he's not what he was IMO, like I said earlier it's a shame the best years are behind him and they've gone unnoticed by missing the big fights. He was never in serious trouble but he laboured to victory, he's no spring chicken and doesn't look the same fighter as before.
arcticgun 4,548
Thought he was poor last night lacked his usual edge no second he plan much as I like him and he entitled too an off night but on first watch I personally thought Jacobs did enough too win Very suprised gonzalez lost but fair play too the Thai he came too fight n it paid off fantastic bout as was the one before tidy too Bit disappointed with GGG looked demotivated and one dimensional not looking so invincible now bet Canelo licking his lips but Likesay anyone can mess up once
Silversnake 1,099
I saw the first sign of 'cracks' in Golovkin in the Brooks fight. I thought he did look invincible before that. It is no easy feat to win a world title match at any time, so Golovkin done very well today against a talented and hungry opponent, but it does seem, imho, he is on the descent. Maybe the chance golden boy promotions has been waiting for...
JDHUNTING 1,817
Not seen the fight yet but wondered after the brook fight whether he was taking his foot off the gas to tempt the likes of Saunders and Canelo into a bout, i think either way he needs to get the big fights in soon, come forward bangers always fade quickest. DogMan85 722
Not seen the fight yet but wondered after the brook fight whether he was taking his foot off the gas to tempt the likes of Saunders and Canelo into a bout, i think either way he needs to get the big fights in soon, come forward bangers always fade quickest.I thought that but now way in hell would he risk a loss to secure those fights. I personally think he's on the slide, let's not forget he's 34 with near enough 40 professional and 350 amateur bouts to his name. arcticgun 4,548
Think he needs Canelo next can't see Saunders fetching much too the table but few will look at last night and gain the incentive too want too have a go Jacobs done real well I thought he might of edged it but always like too watch it again in cold light of day often reveals why the winner won
MickC 1,825
I was also thinking if GGG had been holding back like already mentioned to get the fight with Canelo ? GGG did not go after Jacobs when he dropped him and Jacobs was also hurt in the ninth (iirc).Jacobs is the best fighter GGG has faced so far as a pro and even though the fight did not go how many people thought it would GGG deserved the win and the stats backed up the result. Jacobs refused the weigh in on day of the fight also,be interesting to know what he actually did weigh come fight time, rumours are Jacobs was 180lbs +. The weigh ins should be put back as they were,on the day of the fight, too many fighters taking advantage of the extra 24 hours to re hydrate . Wild-Bill 500
I thought Jacobs did well and really wanted him to get the result. I think he did enough but when you look at the stats GGG did more. I think canelo beats him and av said that from day one. He looked like couldn't figure Jacobs out last night to much. Maybe he put to much into camp as someone said but I not sure because he's suppose to be fighting again in June. Which is hard to believe if he put a hell ov a lot into this camp. I don't fancy billy joe to beat him, he looked terrible on his last outing as well. Lomachenko next to watch now, this week I think it is.
MickC 1,825
GGG v Canelo is the fight everyone's waiting for but Canelo giving GGG crap purse offers is stalling this fight, fight should be 50/50 split. GGG will have to KO Canelo to get the win,Canelo has had at least a couple of decisions go his way when everybody else thought he had lost, even Khan was well ahead on points when he fought him but the score cards did not reflect it. gnasher16 30,873
Whenever the underdog excels in a fight he is fully expected to lose you get people who say he deserved the win for the effort he put in.......the reality is a fighter who spends 90 % of a fight on the back foot and at no point in the fight hurts his man hasnt done enough to win......that was the poorest ive ever seen Golovkin box and he still beat the next best fighter in his division reasonably comfortably,on that showing Golovkin seemed to be over confident in his physical strength both taking shots and thinking he can just walk the opponent down and land.....what happened to the way he usually glides in and out of range he didnt show any of the footwork that his power comes from he looked flat and not motivated i dont think he is on the slide i just think he needs to get back to doing the things that got him where he is. I think people have the mentality that because he survived and gave Golovkin a little trouble he automatically wins the fight. Jacobs was out landed, floored and wobbled on a few occasions, he lost the fight even though Golovkin looked far from his best. I lost a bit of respect for Jacobs with the shenanigans he pulled on fight day when he shunned the IBF same day weigh-in, rumours are he weighed 180-190lb in the ring. I believe Golovkin is on the slide but that was still enough to beat the next best Middleweight who was huge on fight night, Canelo wouldn't pose the same problems for GGG IMO.
