RSVNelly 518
get to the opticians nelly.. x9 is fine I've got higher mag ones but don't go above 9! I've got rid of gucci scopes cos the rec's were so fine that i was straining to focus on both, i find the cheapy hawke easier to use than my more expensive ones ps. have you got the photon sorted ?! atb si No not yet mate I don't have anywhere apart from Swarland to really get it sorted Si. There's a 20 meter indoor range but tbh it's not really adequate mate is there nobody near buy with land you can approach?! nowt to loose by asking No Si I'm a proper townie ? Quote Link to post

philpot 5,122
Hi Phil, - what magnification do you use with the above scope mate ? Depending on distance Mark but 90% of the time x10 otherwise x6. So why did I buy a scope that does x20, in all honesty I just found the image very crisp and clear although the recticle was much finer than I was used to, avoiding them like hell as I never thought I would get on with such a fine cross hairs but it took no time at all. Jonjon79 13,358
I can only agree with the comments above Nelly At the moment I'm using a 3-9x40 and a 3-9x50 - I generally keep these at x7 mag. I'm also using a 4-14x44 and a 3-12x50 - these are usually on x10 mag. It might sound silly but, I like to have a little more than the mag that I use because I don't like the idea of the magnification ring turned right up to the max. I'm not very technical but, my eyes are shite so, it takes me a while to set my kit up how I like it but, once I have, I can easily see targets at 58yrds at the range on x7 mag. ....... I can't hit the fuckers but, I can see them I've had bigger scopes in the past - a Viper 6-24x56 and a Falcon T50 10-50x60. They were fun for a while but, I just found them to be impractical. I spent more time watching wildlife with the T50 than shooting 2 Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
Logically with a decent scope, it shouldn't matter whether you need glasses or not. Surely that's that the focus ring is for? At least it works for me like that. Quote Link to post

I totally agree with you walshie but im diabetic and it affects my eyes and some times iv got to put my glasses on for distance ie if im scanning the fields . its a pain at times as my glasses get in the way when im taking the shot lol atvbjimmy 1 Quote Link to post

You and Sean always talk sense, I don't know what I'd do without you both! I'm really hoping not to have to buy the mounts that Shaun bought, they were far to expensive! Si managed it on the Wildcat with a coke can shim, so if I can't get what I've got working I'll wait till he comes up to Swarland with you and see if he can do it with a Vimto Can ?????? I'm still undecided which rifle to keep it on as I love both of em. Quote Link to post

I'm still undecided which rifle to keep it on as I love both of em. don't give up on the photon nelly when its sorted there sound if you can get on with it, me and my mate do fine with them and aren't looking to upgrade this is how mines setup the mounts both next to each other at the back so it can be shouldered properly for eye relief! the shim is in the bottom right quarter of the rear mount to lift and push focus to the right, this has centred the rec in the photon!! did some testing at 60ish yard before i left on sunday, two mags/16 shots laid prone with the hawke scope on, its just as accurate in the dark with the photon! stick with it... try and sort it at home shoot out of the house and down the garden as long as its safe just to try and put it in the right ball park! DONT tighten the bolts to tight they just want to be nipped enough to secure the scope, you don't want to fcuk the tube atb si Quote Link to post
